Hot Rods Getting ready to review anew TV show...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Fortunateson, Jan 8, 2025.

  1. Comparing the new show to all of the rest of the junk on television it's no worse than everything else offered.

We all have different taste and to be completely honest I would just as soon watch reruns of Gunsmoke , If I watch TV at all. HRP

I'll be nice and just say that there's not enough of the right content for me.

    Does Allen write the show?

He made a very brief appearance at the end...even Jesus showing up couldn't save that program.

Funny. And true. I have a visceral aversion to laugh tracks. They tell me that I am too stupid to appreciate the brilliant repartee going over my head. To conclude, I'll add "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything." Vale.

    So I guess I haven’t missed much.
I clicked to the last 5/10 replies, doesn’t seem the show would rival Home Improvement I guess.

The finale is next week, even they must know it's no good! Short lived series.

I don’t watch a lot of TV especially the network sitcom/drama based shows so I’m probably not the best critic. However, I don’t get the criticism for Shifting Gears. To my knowledge it was never billed as a “car show” simply a sitcom with cars in the background similar to Home Improvement and Last Man Standing. In my opinion it’s pretty hard to fit any meaningful content into a half hour slot with ten minutes of commercials. I tuned in because I like Tim Allen have seen some of his other work and standup comedy. This show is no better or worse then the other time wasting content they pass off as TV entertainment. If you don’t like it every TV has a on/off switch.

If you have a real complaint about automotive TV it should be with Motor Trend TV who advertises as a motorsports channel. I’m tired of ten year old reruns of Fantom, Roadkill, Outlaw and numerous other programs with virtually no actual details other than fake deadlines. You would think for an automotive channel there would be more programs like Engine Masters. My opinion your mileage may vary.

  10. I guess my "problem" is I remember when sitcom's were actually kinda funny, not so much anymore. The car part of it would have only been window dressing.

Do like that actor Daryl Mitchell (in the wheel chair) is working after NCIS : New Orleans got canceled! Always thought he was a class act as an actor, & the way he uses the chair as a prop...

8-10 episode TV series are pretty typical these days. Networks aren't ordering 25 episode seasons anymore in most cases. The episode run was ordered before it hit TV, so the length of the series says nothing about the network's thoughts on it.

I watched the first 4 or so, it didn't hold my interest.
