I was just reading about SB712 which is a senate bill submitted by Jay Leno, so some folks are calling it the Leno Law. LOL

I have a 1988 Ford F-250 4WD truck that my registration is hinged on a smog test. The DMV won't register the truck in my name without me paying back fees. This might allow me to store it off the street and not have to pay right now. I'm ok paying the back fees, when I want to drive it, but not ready to work on it yet and I suspect wires have been eaten by rodents...

Best I can tell, it would allow people to store vehicles to be stored off the street and/or inside a garage and not have to pay registration on those vehicles. That is what I'm doing with my F-250, although it is not officially in my name yet. I started the paperwork with the DMV to make sure I was legally safe.

Another view/update. I don't know if I'm too hopeful, but my F-250 is 37 years old and would just squeak into this program, and I have a '84 911 that is 41 years old and would get in. I believe it will currently pass smog, but is on PNO.

This would be a big move for California, but a very small part of the registration fees anyway. The reason I have the 911 on PNO is so I don't have to pay the insurance, and you can only drive one car/truck at a time...I opt for a truck...
