I posted awhile ago about my current project, it's a 30 closed cab pickup. I have the frame built and am mocking up the front and rear suspension. Anyway, I'm wanting to channel it 3inches and chop it, but if I sit in it now I don't have much room for my feet. I'm 6ft, and I'm just wondering if I'll still fit in it once its chopped and channeled. I also picked up a 30 sedan that I'm sure I'll fit in. So, any suggestions?

  2. depends on comfortable you want to be. i'm 6 foot , 210 lbs and was very cramped in my `29 closed cab pickup that was not chopped or channeled.

there is a certain world famous `33 ford pickup ( rocky's) that i can not drive...i can't get my legs and arms into postion to drive it..my bad knees might be part of the problem ...but i have road in it several times ok

I'm only 5'10" and a stock Model A pick-up with a 4" recessed firewall didn't have enough room for me to sit comfortably in.
I couldn't even drive it unless the window was rolled down.

I would sell the cab and build the sedan.

Hey P.Y. thanks for the pics, thats about how I figured I'd sit in the thing. I love the look of your truck and thats about the chop and channel I'm looking for. I just don't know if I can live with that seating position.

My A PU is not chopped and not channeled and I still have my knees and steering wheel in my face. I also have a manual trans, so the pedals and shifter for those take up space. If I were you, I'd consider only doing the chop. Channeling will take up alot more room and make it nuch less driver friendly.

I'm 5'8" and my trucks top is chopped 2". with a 4" recessed firewall my head is 1" form touching the roof. Do yourself a favor and take the stock metal seat riser out and gain a couple of inches.

I'm building a 31 that has been chopped 4 inches.
It was channeled on the frame when I got it.
I'm 6'6" and just sitting on the frame I did not fit.
What I'm going to do is bring it back up and then add 6 1/2" to the cab length.
I will then add Continental Oval windows to this section and install suicide doors.
Hopefully then I will have a little more room.
If not, my wife is already eyeing it up.

my 30 A pick up is choppeed 4 1/2" channeled 3" sectioned 2" with a flat fire wall. to make up for leg room I streched the cab 4" and flush fit the doors giving me another inch. my freind can sit in the drivers seat and have plenty of room. he is 6'3" 250lbs.

I had too spend alot of time fitting the pedals, steering wheel, seats to get the most room .

others have said my truck feels better and more roomy then there stock cabs.

    6" Channel
    no chop
    Manual Transmission
    Recessed firewall

I fit fine and have logged 45,000 miles behind the wheel, but most people can't drive it.

If you don't fit now, I doubt it will get better after loosing 6"

I've been trying to get as close to an estimate for seating as I can, but there isnt currently a floor. I've been trying to mock up the seat position with blocks. I guess I'll have to go with the sedan. Although stretching the cab sound interesting.
