Hello all, good day. I bought these rear brake drums a while back but only recently unboxed them. I am noticing what appear to be cracks along the 'shoulder' of the drum. I have included some pictures, and I circled one example in blue to help facilitate understanding here. I am posting to ask first, why are they there? And second, are these drums safe to use? Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure if this is correct but I seem to recall @Hitchhiker on here talking about slots in the drums to check shoe position when adjusting.

Look like original Ford drums to me. Also look like they are freshly turned, what do they measure for oversize?
.060 is the recommended max, a little over that I still run them

Yes for adjusting brake shoes by inserting a feeler gauge.

Thanks for all the replies. Good question about the oversize. I don't have a drum gauge. I will find someone who does. I bought these particular drums because they had the safety hub retainers installed. Of course, I am hoping the drums themselves are sound. Thanks again, all!
