Country Classic Cars, of Staunton, Ill...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Junkyard Dog 32, Oct 25, 2006.

  1. I just wanted to take one moment to let everyone know, that a representative of Country Classic Cars, of Staunton, Ill. went to Fond du Lac, WI today, and and met with our buddy, Doug Jarvis.
An agreement was reached, and, for lack of a better term...

    Everyone is satisfied... :)

Thank you to all those who posted thier comments about the situation. There is NO question as to the significance of the input that came from the good people of the HAMB.

Personally, my hat's off to Russel Noel, of Country Classic Cars, of Staunton, Ill, for paying reasonable attention to an unpleasant, yet, important issue...

    Best Regards to All...

hopefully everyone remains happy in this situation...good luck to Doug, hopefully you can be a little more cynical next time...I'm sorry things like this happen...as for Russell Noel, I'll never respect him...not that he cares what I think...

CCC seems to have a large selection of great cars for low prices. What was the problem if a newb could ask?

Seller misrepresented car. Buyer purchased without proper inspection. Buyer wants to return car for refund. Third party posts on HAMB. Lots of activity on the board. Seller comes to his senses and agrees to undo the deal.

Outstanding! I wondered what ever happened with that deal. I'm glad to see it got worked out. The HAMB is a powerful thing.

  10. Well this is good news to hear.....the power of the HAMB is truly amazing.

Let it be known that a heck of a lot of people know about that car now and its many problems. If its passed on to some other unsuspecting person without the problems being presented, then no lesson from the seller was learned.

I hope Russell is sincere and perhaps will take seriously the suggestions folks have provided.

  12. Wow, not often you hear things work out on deals like this. Used car dealers are notorious shysters (sp?)
    Good for your buddy JD32.

Now if the HAMB can use its collective power to get some parts manufacturers to reproduce quality vintage and antique parts again.
Good luck to your buddy. When the H.A.M.B. speaks people listen.

Glad to hear things worked out for your friend. Still though it was pretty crummy of those guys out in IL to log onto the HAMB all on the same computer trying to pass off as more than one person. That still speaks volumes to me.....

i didn't comment on this before, as my dealings with russel pre-date the move to the building on the highway, but i thought he was a pleasant enough guy...

The Country Classic websight is down. I checked them out to see if cars that I was told were sold last December were still on the sight. Or if they have had a price change. The sight is not up.

  18. The website link worked for me and the guy is still trying to sell the poorly built red 34 coupe. $35,950.00 !!! What a bargain!

this sounds like a good thread to test my new avitar.

  20. I am bringing this thread back to life because I am curious if anyone has dealt with CCC since this post or has gone there recently and can possibly help me out on a car they are selling....

  22. I did, but cannot really tell how it is yet since I haven't receive the car, or even seen anythin else than pictures. I know I'm crazy, but that's not news. Anyhow I contacted the seller first via email, then I called them with additional detail request etc. Everything went as promised and all the paperwork was proper. Now the new love sits on shippers lot in SC waiting for to be boated to Finkland. He said it looks to be OK, but well see when it arrives whether the seller told the truth about the condition or not.

    So far so good...

I hate to dig up a dead topic, but I feel like you guys and gals should be fully informed of what's happening around you...Country Classic Cars in Staunton, IL is having an "inventory reduction" auction this fall put on by Vanderbrink Auctioneers...if you do decide to attend this auction, do so with open eyes and be as scrutinous as possible when looking over what you're buying...I'm not too happy that this auction house got involved with that crapweasel of a car dealer, but thought you all should know...best of luck to you...

I e-mailed the auctioneer, they don't seem to care much about his reputation, or how it might affect theirs...the reply was "we're just going there to sell cars at No Reserve"...hopefully people look at what's being sold and bid low...

some of their 'inventory' is consignment. if you buy something from the auction, you might have an issue from the actual owners. i imagine that they've already got a title on hand with an assignment to country classic, but i would be very cautious...

They have a 1967 Belair wagon that used to be mine. I bought it as it sits on their lot for $1700 at the Goodguys show in Scottsdale in 2003. I drove it for a year or so and then sold it on Ebay and it ended being sold again at a car show in Wisconsin to Country Classic Cars where they have had it on their lot since. When it first went on their site they were asking $6750 for it in the same condition that I paid $1700 for. It drove nice and had great wheels and tires but the body had quite a few big dents and rust at the bottom of the quarters. They still have it as far as I know......67 Belair Wagon, bright red.

Just checked....It is now $4950. Oh, BTW.....It blew a LOT of black smoke out the tail pipe when it was first started and until the engine warmed up. And it says "redone" interior. Redone means the seat covers I put on it. It also needs carpet badly. Still, it is a cool car.....

From what I gathered about the auction, it doesn't sound like any of the vehicles to be auctioned are consignments, but like monsterflake said, be careful...this place is notorious for overpricing cars that are not only junk, but repaired in unsafe ways...can anyone find the original discussion about that red '34 Ford a dude on here bought and it turned out to be butchered and unsafe?

The dealer himself may be shitty, but Vanderbrink is a good auction house, I like them much better than some of the crooked places I've seen elsewhere.

The key would be to inspect the cars beforehand to look for hidden issues, and base your high bid on the car without taking into account the original asking price. Those who do their homework will be fine.
