It's BASF's line of paint. Been around forever. High end and the cost usually reflects that. Foose has been using it for years on all his builds.

  3. My Roadster is painted with it. Going on 30 years now. Porsche uses it. I think most of the German cars used it at some point.

I found some red, black and white single stage (21 line) in my cabinet over 30 years old. Last summer and fall I painted some small parts, a rim and the windshield channels on my 64 El Camino with it and it worked like it was still new and fresh. I did find some new hardner for it, but the paint sprayed and cured as it should. Back in the 80s, I saw the sales rep pour brake fluid on a week old single stage urethane job with virtually no adverse effects. I have used it on engines and it was extremely durable and kept it's gloss even after many years. Great product.

High end stuff , I have used their profy system chart where the colours minutely gradually change allowing you to choose any colour. Excellent product,

German brand if I'm not mistaken, when I was working on high end and exotic cars that's what the shop was using. Pricey back then, still pricey today.

A friend of mine was working at a car dealer in their body shop and they switched from Glasurit to something else because the other brand was cheaper. They put all of their leftovers into gallon cans and gave them to the body guys, so all the reds went in a can, all the blues, etc. The guy got me the can of green and we used it on my girlfriend's '51 Chevy. Even then, a gallon of unreduced base like that was probably 2 grand retail. Loved the way it looked on the car.

Don't know what I'd ever build that I'd spend that kind of money on paint for. But if someone had some leftovers again like that, I'd jump all over it, the shit's pricey for good reason, it's good stuff.

My 5 Window was painted with Glasurit single stage paint about 9 years ago and it has held up insanely well. Very high-quality stuff.
