Wow I had no idea about how big his family was, can you imagine saying the your grandpa or your great grandpa is Gene Winfield?!? That would be awesome!!! I bet they were some spoiled rotten kiddos

 

I love that the last photo of Gene has Pat Ganahl laughing and smiling towards him in the back ground in his purple roadster

Thank you for sending that along. Enjoyed a couple visits with him at the Syracuse show. Fun to talk and joke with.

What I found interesting is the way the NYT chooses who gets an obituary. Gene certainly deserves that one.

Thank you for posting . He was a true car craftsman . He will be missed . As I have ask in the past “ who will fill his shoes ? “

 

In many conversations with him, I never asked if he had any family. I missed out on quite a story. The obit writer did their homework.
