My '66 JC Whitney book did not list it either, despite having a massive listing of aftermarket cap designs. I'm still stumped.

It absolutely is traditional though, this thing is definitely from the era.

  3. Do you have the hubcap or just the photos?
There's something odd about the front shot. What's with the gray patch on the "flipper"? It's like a crude, first-day lesson in Photoshop. The gray is transparent tint and we can see all the flipper details through it.
The backside shot really shows how oddly placed the valve stem hole is. I've seen bent, extra-long valve stems on big rigs but never on something this small.

Look up Skotch Kooler, it may be a lid off a competing brand. The hole is for a tube to drain the melting ice water.

This has been driving me crazy, I feel like I've seen this before. Looks like either from a travel trailer or a futuristic '70s movie cop car? What's unusual is the main wheel cover looks like a Lyon or some other aftermarket stamping, but the center spinner thing is multi-piece, looks heavy and would be a pain to manufacture. And it also looks riveted on so I don't think it was added later.

Also what was the aftermarket accessory wheel cover maker in Chicago? I cannot recall but I've been by their old factory building several times in the Bellwood/Maywood area IIRC.

See if this is stamped on any of the clips. Might get you closer to ID anyway. (photo courtesy Rikster of course). Any Lyon catalogs out there?

The LYON cap has well made retaining clips, the mystery cap is a few levels lower in quality, from what I can see.

When I was a little kid we had one of these that covered the hole in outhouse out back.

  15. I think it's part of a roulette wheel

  16. Have you checked with our friend Anthony? He has been known to wear unusual hub caps as a fashion statement! :D

This is a far stretch at best, and I know this isn't it, but the square bar in the center of the wheel cover, reminds me of this vintage lawn sprinkler that attached to a garden hose!
    Everyone's results, may vary greatly!

That is a plumbing part, screwed to a wheel cover.

I don't know, it looks like a commercially riveted assembly.
My original thought was the center piece looks like it might have been used on a large pressurized bug sprayer or something similar with a locking handle.

"Encabulator" = To Encabulate, not to be confused with the word "Perambulate"
"Encabulation" = This is the state of dynamic flux, after the Encabulator has achieved primary balance.
"Tralfamador" = The fictional planet where, where Billy Pilgrim and Montana Wildhack, performed for the Tralfamdorians, in Kurt Vonnegut's great science fiction novel, "Slaughterhouse 5"

That should be slightly sufficient for those, that actually take the time, to read actual books now and then!
    Your results may vary greatly!

Its only a matter of time, till some of the more creative fabricators and welders, make a set of wheel covers, that have vintage sprinkler parts attached to them, to imitate vintage "MOPAR" lancer hub caps.

    MOPAR DUCT TAPE.JPG

Just to throw a bit more salt into the mystery wound, I will award a vintage bag of Planters salted peanuts, from an old store display, to the person that can properly identify, what this vintage exhaust valve came out of?

I already know the answer, because I gave this valve to Dick Hill (R.I.P. ), who is the man in these pictures.

Looks like the lid to a cheesy 60's ice bucket.

  30. This is a photo of the back, I just noticed there is a rectangle indention and it appears the spinner is spot welded in 2 spots. HRP
