    Hello,

The old race cars at the drags always gave me inspiration for the new art work. Chopped coupes, modified sedans and a bevy of roadsters, as well as FED race cars of all styles. It was like living in a history book. Spending time allows me to create something that months and perhaps years, it would take to build them from scratch or partially completed builds. Art is less expensive, but a creative way to enjoy hot rods and custom cars from the comfort of your chair/desk.

This blue 32 sedan could be in the Altered Class, despite having a full, street legal baffled exhaust piped header system. In those early days, if a street legal build Gas Coupe/Sedan had one item not street legal, then it was reclassified as an Altered Coupe or Sedan. Now, the 10% legal set back was helpful, but the full Altereds were allowed a 25 % set back to separate the two drag race classes.

One of the most fun cars and one that made the most noise was the white Reath Automotive Model A Sedan. If one was standing close to the starting line, covering your ears was a standard move as the motor made a tremendous display of horsepower upon starting its runs down the quarter mile. It was all power at the accelerator.

One of the earliest photos of the famed Long Beach, CA Model A Altered Sedan was named Koening/Pick/Reath Automotive. Joe Koenig, Steve Pick and of course, Reath Automotive, all local So Cal racers and popular speed shop. As most knew, Reath Automotive usually was associated with the top racers in this region. They offered sponsorships from little to big time, or helped build a bunch of race cars and teams. This version was one of the very first ones in this same chopped Model A sedan in So Cal.

An updraft carburetor motor from Reath Automotive was used for experimental tests along with sharing it with other Long Beach Reath Automotive race cars and teams. (Bruce Woodcock/Rakers Altered and the 32 Vicky of the Vulcans.)

1958-59 Lions Dragstrip: white sedan with yellow highlights and wheels. The color combination provided everyone to identify with it immediately, while the motor created an instant recognition in the pits and staging area.

Our favorite chopped Model A sedan, for which all others from 1958 followed in form, similar style and function, came from the Reath Automotive stable of hot rods. In 1958, a white Model A chopped sedan rolled into the pits with the name Koenig/Pick and Reath Automotive on the side. Then, over a period of time, the names changed on the door panel. (Sundin/Koenig or just Reath Automotive) with Dosser Automotive, a local Long Beach Jeep dealer, one of the last known names on the side.

Did a shirt design for my friend Ray.... who had a surprise birthday Party for Butch Martin celebrating his 85th birthday.... Butch still rolls in his 32 roadster with over 250 thousand miles on it.
Butch is an east coast legend.

Sorry guys, you’re counting the three between the coupe and sedan twice. Prove me wrong,
but I’m pretty sure I’m right. Great star to the FAS as usual. DoUg

  15. I’m working to get some new stuff up soon but these re-pops will have to do for now.

Yep. They're tough little buggers to find, I was stuck on 8 for a while.

    Hey @buford_59
Confidence is high, that the count is accurate at 10 aliens. It really helps to have an I-pad that is linked to my computer, that way I can really zoom into the picture a lot closer than with just the standard feature of the computer screen. As seen so far, others are finding 10 Aliens as well !
You asked for proof that you are wrong, well here is the proof as per the official Alien counter! (Cheshire smart ass grin)
    Thanks from Dennis.

Congratulations on your big number Sunday. Ours is tomorrow but only 28 years. Today is back out Eve. The one day a year you can opt out without hard feelings. If we are both here in the morning, we have re upped for another trip around the sun.

I don’t have any art to share, but I have this…
What is the shortest sentence in the English language? I am.
What is the longest sentence? I do.

    Celebrate responsibly.
