I am installing the wood on my 34’ Ford 2 door sedan and am not sure how the wood is fastened around the upper inside of door jamb and if it’s fastened somehow above the rear side windows. Is it nailed or screwed or ? Any pics would help. Thanks!
It has been awhile since I did mine. Around the doors the roof is naild to the wood. Then a metal cover goes over the wood in upper door frame. The rear window is also nailed to the wood. I don't have any pictures of that area. Once you put the wood rail above the door and rear window it should all become clear.
I did 3" and rear window 2". I didn't lean windshield cut the roof above the door and rear windows and stretched them both about 3/4" to get the a pillar and rear to line up.
Thanks for the replies. The door opening looks fairly straight forward, but the rear side windows just have notches. Don't really see any holes. Hardware store nails or do they make specific ones?
The notches above the rear side windows are for screws to ***emble the two piece back half of the header. The top piece gets two bolts in the bracket above and behind the rear side window, then you screw the lower piece to it and add one more bolt the that rear bracket. Then little nails go into that piece through the sheet metal. Above the doors it's screwed sideways into the header. The door upper tin and upper seal cover those screws.
FYI the small nails that Ford used to attach the metal to the wood have "serrations" along the length to keep the nails from working loose--they are rather hard to find. Also, the small nails are damn hard to drive into the oak/maple hard wood so be prepared.
