helps if we can see the picture in your post...

Also helps if you tell us what car it is. We can guess, we might be right, we might be wrong.

A 32 five window? The ones from Brookville were nice the last time I got some (a few years ago).

We all make patch panels. There are countless examples of them here. Even the most reproduced bodies need connecting panels handmade for around the factory formed patches. The more tools and expertise you have, the more likely you are to form your own.

I’m betting on the same car. Maybe OP will let us know...

It is not necessarily the tools.

  12. Got a cheapo HF bead roller and shrinker stretcher combo
    An acetylene bottle cap
A bowling ball from the thrift store
Random hammers but I prefer ball peens
A sand bag but stacked cardboard works
A piece of rail road track and a couple dollies
    A cheap bench shear
    Random wood blocks.

Made a couple patch panels and paid for itself .

splurged on a marketplace brake a couple years ago but a hammer and edge of a bench with angle clamped over the metal works

I'm going to be the detractor here, Yuppers many of us can make our own patch panels and have and if you can think out of the box you can make your own form to shape something over.
The problem is that sometimes we get a bit arrogant when someone asks about buying said panel and rather than point him towards the vendor who sells said panel go into a long dissertation on how he should buck up and make his own even though he may not have the tools to do it nor even basic metal shaping skills or worse yet not the time to spend on it learning how to make one that looks presentable.
Took all of two minutes of searching https://cwmoss.com/collections/v8/products/rear-quarter-patch-panels-1932-ford-5-window-coupe That included time wasted on Speedways site. Screenshot (403).png

Those fit probably 1% of the vehicles that they're intended to fit.

  16. We bought a set of 32 qtr patches.
Both ended up in the scrap bin

The skill and tools needed to make em fit properly are the same for fabricating them

No jamb area, the bead was way too wide and the wrong contour.
The bead that blended into the wheelhouse was not even close.

    @Mr48chev
I think most understand what you posted above ,,
I would think if Op was able to cut out add a patch On what was posted , the Op would be-able to fix existing issue
Easer , & Issue Not that bad as the Op
Might think , & belt line correct over Most patch panels ,

Thanks 48Chev, those are the ones I had good luck with. I did trim a bit of unneeded away for my application, but the overall shape was better than any others I’ve seen. Evidently they are sold through different vendors.

Brookville makes them for the roadster, they are a little too long for a 5 window, but can be trimmed to shorten. at least the shape of the molding is nearly correct.
