I drug my 50 old Craftsman 1.5 ton floor jack out from under the work bench to do some over due maintenance on my old beater yesterday and it has developed a slow leak, anyone ever re-valve/repair a floor jack or is it time to s**** it? HRP
I've fixed some of my garage hydraulic tools, by dis***embling in the leak area, then bringing the worn out seal, or part, to local hydraulic shop, they match up the part.
I have a Snap on floor jack that I bought back in the early eighties. They were re branded Walker jacks. About 5 years ago it started marking its territory by leaking. I looked up the model number and found a guy that sold repair kits. I half ***ed thought about just getting a new one but almost everything was made off shore and I really hate that. I bought a kit for it and took it apart and replaced the seals and has been great ever since. The kit was 40 bucks and I spent a few hours going through it. here is a link to their website: https://www.hcrcnow.com/
Had an old Hein-Werner that leaked & the seals were an odd ball so I s****ped it. Wish I had perused some sorta fix
My Craftsman floor jack started leaking about forty years after the warranty expired. In the mean time I'd bought a wheel borrow full of Porta Powers (probably off of a frame table ???) for $50. I got them home and they were all shot. I did some on line search and found seal kits for the floor jack and some of the porta power tools. The Craftsman wasn't hard to work on but the Porta Powers gland nut was an SOB. I would encourage you to buy the kit and take a shot at fixing it! If you have trouble finding the kit let me know. I think I have the info out in the shop.
I rebuilt a Hein-Werner 1-1/2 ton a few years ago and although I still have some air in the system, it works when I need it. I made a special tool to take apart the major nut.
