I read this and feel inspired, so I have joined the HAMB as my user name suggest I am a welder with many many years of experience with practical welding, gas, stick, mig and tig. I am a 60 year old living in New Zealand, so I hope to keep you posted on progress.

Hey guys, my name is Joe Poletto, and i'm from Brazil.

First of all, i'd like to say how inspirng this threat is to me! I've must been reading and rereading this content over 5 years from now, and the fabrication skills from Mr. flthd31 (sorry i don't know your real name, nor how to mention the username on here) still amazes me! Building '32 rails... in your garage... with simple tools! That's what's Hot Rodding is all about!!

I'm currently finishing up a '30 Tudor Sedan, that i've build the ch***is based on the original Model A style, so as my Hot Rod is getting close to the finishing, i've decided that it is time to start another Hot Rod! Pretty smart, right??

So after all this ****ysing, i've decided that i should try to build my own version of those so desired '32 rails!

I run a small iron work business, so i have acess to lot's of s**** metal, MIG welders and a CNC plasma table, so not having the propper tools will be no issue.

So i started drawning the side rails on AutoCAD, and i decided to make the side profile paralel to the body that will be a 1930 5W Coupe fibergl*** body (lame, i know, but we don't have 5Ws here in Brazil).

So, after designing and drawing the profile of the rails, it was time to build the template with the pattern of that side chanfer that makes the killer look on those rails!

I've used some s**** 1/4" steel sheet, and some 2" x 3/16" to make de side reinforcement that must hold the inumerous hammer blows that it's demanded!

Added some square tubing jus for extra strenght of the tamplate.

After all the arranjements made, it's time to cut the rails!

I used a 10 gauge steel sheet tha is about 0.1345" thickness. It came out pretty good actually!

You may need a Google account to upload to YouTube.

Once you upload your video to YouTube, then paste the link in your thread.

    Killer 5W!!

I'm williing to use a complete '48 Merc powertrain that a friend of mine offered me last year. It was taken of a running car 8 or 10 years a go. It comes with radiator, complete engine, trans and the rear axle with the torque tube.

I have a '39 ford trans case, and i'm hoping that i can mount all the 48 trans internals on it. I don't know if it's possible.
