His videos are just like what he used to film for Roadkill Garage or the Work From Home series during COVID. He can come off as arrogant, but I don't see any desperation. I see a guy changing gears with the loss of his day job.

Nobody's forcing you to watch, and you're free to your opinion.

Less arrogant is still arrogant ha ha ha. The desperation, I see is in the number of videos he’s been putting out and no I don’t watch them all.

Is Freiburger arrogant or just speaks his mind straight out on some items? He has said in the past the bad internet information about his stuff bugs him.

You guys are hilarious. Freiburger really knows his stuff, and explains it from a level of understanding not often seen.

Burnouts are great fun. They were sometimes taken to some pretty crazy levels, but why not? I hope I never have to own/drive a car that can't do a burnout!

Those guys are not juvenile. Here they are being called juvenile by people who chase a ball around with a stick on land that wastes tons of water to be kept artificially green, and yell at TV's showing other guys trying to kill each other chasing a football around. Yeah, which one is "juvenile"?? These guys create things that require skill and knowledge to build, and then go have fun with them. Good, all American fun! Ef the haters, and the greedy pricks that cancelled these great shows.

Watch somebody create or repair something and maybe learn something, or some mind numbing, soul crushing ridiculous sitcom?? Well, the sitcom is uber cheap to produce, so that's what you're stuck with!! Or your silly sports. Sad days...

  9. I got to say YouTube is the most underrated invention of this century. I turned my TV off after the 2016 election like literally when I found out President Trump won because I couldn't handle orangeman supporters bad narrative, this site is no place for politics So I'm going to leave it at that... Anyways with YouTube my brain can always be learning, I am just old enough to remember the era without the internet, I never realized how junky television was, I did not grow up with cable but when I became an adult I got cable and cable is just as bad as regular television. Now I can watch what I want to watch when I want to watch it and I could even skip most of the commercials. When it comes to roadkill remember it was originally a YouTube show It is one of the earlier automotive shows on YouTube if not the earliest, It was great I don't know how long it ran after motor trend pulled it off of YouTube for their own streaming platform but it was one of the first shows that wasn't full of advertisements and they were pulling junk out of the grave so to speak and making it run... That was right up my alley I mean you can't go wrong watching a 1954 GMC truck drive out of a junkyard in Fresno and try to make a 200 mile jaunt to LA with flashlights taped to the fenders.
Roadkill was never quite technical enough for me because I like to know the nuts and bolts of things but it was just good enough to definitely be good entertainment. I guess realistically it has ran its course even if motor trend hadn't canceled it I probably wouldn't watch it regularly. It's kind of like a television show that lasts 10 or 12 years at some point it just becomes normal It's no longer new and exciting. The same argument can be had for anything else for example how many times can we watch Derek from vise grip garage resurrect a car and drive it across country.
I subscribe to Freiburger and dirt head Dave from from the 4x4 show That motor trend had... Those guys are serious gearheads, David Freiburger in my opinion is probably one of the best automotive storytellers the modern era The only one that was better was Pat Ganahl but unfortunately he is not with us anymore. There is a few men over the years that really did a good job with writing for Hot Rod magazine and drumming up the next generation to get into cars David was/is one of them after all he brought us crusher Camaro, the dart running 12s for two grand (This was probably in 1993 so inflation corrected probably four or five grand). and he made budget hot rodding cool and more importantly he's all about driving his shit boxes... On that note I actually ran into him a few months s ago at the Long Beach high performance swap meet, he was all about my buddies beat to hell boogie van, I didn't really talk to him but he seemed like a pretty good dude he was there with his son, That is when you know a guy is a true car guy if he's at the car swap meets...

Personally I usually enjoyed the shows and the cast. Not big on burn outs but enjoyed the cars that could smoke the tires some while accelerating. I found Frieberger to be very knowledgeable and had an excellent low key sense of humor...........and I identified with him when things just didn't go right. I learned some things along the way and wish him well in his new venture.

  12. The classic Roadkill formula of pulling a heap out of a yard, getting it running and roadtripping it launched a thousand imitators across the internet. Were they the first to do it? Surely not, but they were the most successful and well known. Honestly, their revival roadtrip stuff seems like a slice of heaven to me. Wrenching on old junk with your buds and being able to enjoy (or not) the fruits of your labor. Sure some of their antics were childish, but who here isn't guilty of a little childish fun in one form or another from time to time? More importantly, how many young guys would you estimate have gotten into cars, particularly old cars, because of them and shows like theirs? I'd rather watch hours of Roadkill reruns than the Viagra-ad-addled, overly-dramatized samey crap MotorTrend puts on TV these days.

I’ve seen too many guys blow their shit up doing burnouts at the track for a reason, I can’t see causing carnage on the streets for shits and giggles. I guess Ive invested too much on engine, transmission, gears let alone tires to act like a dumb ass doing burnouts to entertain some bonehead.

  16. I mean if you're a dope and float the valves for 60 seconds sitting on the limiter (if you even have one), yeah, you're making poor life choices. Yours to make, however.
I agree that doing them in traffic is pretty stupid. We've all seen countless guys lose the handle when trying to show off. Too much time and money invested to risk it.

What about the dedicated burnout competition cars like the have in Australia? That stuff is picking up a lot of steam here too.

    Aman right!!!!....;)
When I bought my 2019 GT new, I paid a pretty penny for it back then... The car has 37,500+ on the clock with the original set of tires on it and they are on the wear bars... I will replace them this spring including the brakes and rotors which are original also...

Some of the shit they did on RoadKill was good to watch often.. I will add a vote for Engine Masters. Steve Brule is a smart guy. Lots of Dyno experience. Guess I just like to hear engines scream for a bit?

Ya, I do not "get" the burn outs till shit flies off the wheels, takes a fender off or something.

I would think a few of those Motor Trend guys miss the TV money?
