Ok so I recently got a 1950 plymouth special deluxe 4dr, I have got the seized motor turning by hand now. When I pulled the starter together to the flywheel I noticed the bendix seemed like it was stuck out but not all the way . Thinking it's gonna need a rebuild. I have bench tested it and runs and kicks out from where it sitting on the shat but doesn't return back all the way
that's normal. The way that style of starter drive works - the engine spinning faster than the pinion causes it to kick back out of engagement with the ring gear
