Technical Please help I D this gauge

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by bondojunkie, Mar 30, 2025.

  1. Bought this at a swap meet yesterday and didn't have any luck on the Google. I suspect it to be British but there are no identifying markings to go on. Any ideas? 20250330_134709.jpg

  2. How about a diameter and a photo from the rear.

How about bobcat / fork lift or some other warehouse or industrial application.

  5. 5 inch diameter. I had not considered that it could be commercial application.

  6. Good point! thanks.

The C stands for Charge...opposite of Discharge

Also, some IH trucks of late 50's early 60's used the green pointers and similar font.

  9. Not European or Japanese as it’s in psi and Fahrenheit.

I would guess heavy equipment or industrial engine .

many forklifts in the 70’s and 80’s had the quad gauges like this

All electric or is oil line fed? Without a bulb assembly showing, presumably temp is electric.

  11. Oil is line fed. all others electric.

they generally say IH in the middle....

where's the picture of the back of it? could be some clues hiding there in plain sight.

  16. Google lens says it's from a Peterbuilt 377 instrument cluster, but when I Google that, this gauge doesn't come up, so....

Another possible clue: Check to see what resistance(s) cause the fuel gauge to read from "F" to "E". I assume the gauges are 12 volt. Does it have lighting? Are the bulbs 12V?

The light sockets and wires are exactly like GM used into the 1960s. The connectors also look like GM type (Packard 56).

    But the insulators/resistors look newer.

57 is a very common bulb used in instrument panels from the mid 50s to the 80s. Nothing special about it at all.

Just so everyone knows, this is the gauge cluster out of a 52 International truck, so now there will be no confusion about the IHC panel instruments.
Good guess @squirrel, but no cigar!
