Pulled the body, engine and transmission, and prepped and repainted the frame and underside of the car this weekend. That's the kind of thing that happens when you take 8 years to build a car I guess. Atleast it's one step closer.
Once again doing something twice because it's been so long since I started this build. The hemi got a new coat of paint.
Not much work getting done due to the holiday. We did however reinstall the hemi. Then FedEx dropped off my hood 3 weeks early. Rootlieb did a great job!!
Bolted the body on for the last time after fastening brake and fuel lines to the frame, and plumbing the air shocks. Set the grill shell to make sure the new hood lines up. Had to shove it outside and take a couple pics.
You have to be psyched with your latest progress! I'm almost there myself, preparing to drop my hemi and 700R4 together with new seal kits. My specific bolt kit for my trans adapter from Hot Heads is arriving early next week. I am just thrilled beyond words to see a behemoth hemi within my rails!!!
Spending some time making the mounts to attach the hood. Having long since turned my garage into a wood shop the pic is what I get for building a car in my barn. Sent it to my 2 oldest son's and hotrodderhaag called it "Chicken Coupe". Looks like that name will work just fine for her.
Finally a little color. Just the windshield frame. Yes I changed it. This is the 4th time. I think I like it.
Today with my wife's help I set the windshield glass in the frame. I measured the channel width and glass thickness to determine which thickness of tape to buy. Ended up using 0.30 tape. After putting the tape on and using small pieces of masking tape to hold it in place, I coated the frame channel and rubber tape in dawn dish soap. A couple 4x4's screwed to plywood held the frame upright. It took both of us to guide it into the channel on both sides. I made sure not to seat it in the bottom until I had the frame top back on, then used a small block of wood and a mallet to seat the glass till the holes lined up to screw the top back on. My plan worked pretty well. It was way easier than I thought it would be to put together.
Wow!! 2 1/2 months since my last post. Windshield is in for the last time. Battery cables run and put the seats, dash, and column back in. Going to start wiring soon. The plan is to get it running, make sure all is good with a couple test drives then it gets painted.
Awesome. I love it. Especially since I just bought one fer ma-self. Naturally, I'm researching the car and it brought me right back to the HAMB and your thread. Good luck with the rest of your build. I may have questions.
Glad to hear you got yourself a Plymouth. Best of luck with it and if I can be of any help please reach out. Mark
Spring is here so it's about time I get back to work on this thing. Finally mounted my tailights today. Next on the list is to start wiring this thing.
