I have done a search and seeing several conflicting things talking to multiple people over the past several years.

My first question is, when did they start repoping 32 grill shells ?

My second question is, how can you definitively tell a real one from a repop and can it be done while it's still on the car?

Please only comment if you know although I appreciate everyone's tenacity I'm not looking for guesses.
    Thanks guys

I have never seen an authentic looking thickener brace for the stainless bead trim on any repros. If you could look between the hood flange and the radiator, down low on the sides, you should be able to see the brace and all its accompanying holes and shapes.

This photo is not the best, but at least you can see the general area I’m talking about. The cheapest repros don’t even put an indent for the trim stud, and the better ones still aren’t fully perfect (at least any that I’ve seen up til now).

    Here’s another.

If you can’t tell by looking at it, does it really matter? If it does matter, I suggest studying original ones so you know what to look for.
