The Tankar gas station shown at 3:55 was in downtown Minneapolis, at 3rd and Washington across the street from the old Milwaukee Road rail station. There's a parking ramp there now. On a brighter note, the Orpheum theatre at 7:10 still exists, on Hennepin between 9th and 10th. Its movie days are over, it's now a performing theatre that hosts things like Broadway shows and musical events. Interestingly, it was owned by Bob Dylan in the 1980s; he probably was responsible for its survival.
The terrific 30s video . . . I learned that drive-in movies had no sound(?). And drive-in restaurants meant you still had to park nearby and go inside.
Fun stuff to watch! I especially enjoyed seeing Wells Beach, Maine in the first video because I live just a few miles from the beach. It's mostly multi-million dollar summer homes along there now. There's also some colorized/speed corrected vintage black & white footage from the early 1900's online that are also fascinating to watch.
