    thanks paul

    jimmy,
i think if your doing a full belly pan i would go with 3003 h-14 in .062/.063
this will help with rock dings and dents and dont anneal it if you can help it...put bracing throughout also to keep from it sounding like a thunder storm

I like the look of your current project a lot, and think that your one-off concept sounds great. I've always thought that track roadsters were the purest of hot rods, although my taste runs to the '23-'25 turtledeck bodies and T radiator shells (see picture of mine).

I think a period-looking car with modern power is great, and imagine that you'd do well with the concept. The worst feature of mine is that the car and I are different sizes; I can imagine that a frame that allowed me to sit lower in the car, alongside the driveshaft, would be a huge improvement. I suspect that such an arrangement might broaden your market a**** older/heavier/more prosperous customers, too.

    Good luck!

50Fraud thats an awfully nice looking T
i really like the T's also...ive been collecting parts for a 26/27 roadster with a track nose...not at all the same as yours obviously but im concerned with the small size and sitting "in" it just the same as i am 6' tall so i stick out of the small cars
my hope is to ***emble a complete original body...then replicate it in aluminum entirely to get it as light as possible...we'll see if i ever get around to actually finishing it!

If you can replicate the Eddie Dye roadster nose (Pic) with an Auto Union type grill opening I'll take one.

I am collecting parts for a 27 Roadster with a 29 cowel, Track nose and full
roll pan. I will definatley be giving you a call when I get working on it.

By the way I spent a lot of time looking at the car you have pictured at the
    Showdown and was impressed.

There where a gl*** copy of the Eddie Dye front on eBay a couple of years ago or something. Wasn't advertised as that, but the resemblance was not to be mistaken

Supposely to be made off of "an original" a long time ago and then had been a long time wallhanger since, according to the auction. Makes sense, as we know the history of the orig front. I think it's kinda sad that Orosco can't have the original on the car, but thats another drama.

I'm sure I downloaded the pics but can't find them.
Maybe Klazurfer saved them ?? I remember we talked about bidding on it, to have as a model for a metal one. Went UPPPP in price if I remeber correctly.

I also have a 28 Spot Coupe converted to Track / Lakester. I am interested in how you dealt with the top part of your cowl. My car still has the stock vertical winshield frame, which is the last mod needed to finish the "track" look. I have been toying with the idea of t******* that vertical surface below the windshield to the arc of the cowl. That looks like what you did, but then it leaves you with how to deal with the new raked one. Please advise , thanks KG.

  11. Love your car. I have often thought of buidling a track style vintage racer for street duty myself. Thought about using a Allis Chalmers tractor body parts for grill and hood on a home built straight or dropped axle ch***is.. Taking the teadrop shaped gas tank and putting it behind a single seat, fairing it in. Putting the dash where the Gas tank was and voila, a boat tailed track roadster. Always though a Jag six dutifully polished with the Jag Borg Warner 4 speed shift coming up between your legs just under the steering wheel.
One side entry only and a long loud single pipe running down the other side straight back. In fact i have scheduled the build for right after i finish the dragster project and do my life long goal of a 200 HP merc outboard in my lawn tractor complete with 6 vertical expansion chambers and radiator. I probably wont live that long but the dreams keep me going. Your picture has encouraged me thanks. I often wondered if anyone else wanted a early track style car. Obviously a few at least think it would be cool.

    thanks everyone,
i have a few different ideas for a nose on my next 29 and the eddie dye car was one of them.
it would be a challenge to figure out the reverse curve on the sides of that thing but if i could...boy that looks good
just need to leave out the front bumper and light stands...

    kg
i cut the cowl posts off flush with the top of the body line on the doors, then i capped them about 1" in...from this point the windsheild matches up
along the top of the cowl i recurved the stock dash rail piece to meet with the back of the windsheild
i was planning to make cap pieces to bolt in there if the car is run without the windsheild
heres some pictures that i have at work that kinda show you what i mean...the first isnt capped off on the p*** side but you can see how the dash rail is cut
the windsheild will get a facing built on to blend it down to the cowl and close all the gaps

Fantastic car Zach I would love to own it. My .02 is build what you want and sell them when you are done (don't know how you could part with them though). You have the eye for proportion and style and I don't think you will have any problem selling whatever you build. Also thanks for the fast shipping of the Hop Up mag. If anyone has not seen your business card they need to buy a t-shirt just for the card.

  14. Make the parts.
Other builders will buy them and change them to fit their vision.
Look at the fender/gas tank/exhaust business for motorcycles.
The key is in the number you make and the tooling used.
You know as well or better than most how long the one off part takes. If you can m*** produce a good foundation others will buy it to save time on the finished product.

Guys, keep your eye on this builder.
I can see where he is headed, and it is going to be awesome.
