I’m currently trying to dial in triples, I am wondering if all 3 power valves need to match for progressive linkage & what size to run? I have Holley 94’s the primary being a 2100 w/ 7.5 power valves, 1 secondary model 7RT w blocked off power valve & 2nd secondary is model 59 w 7.5 power valve. Would the primary be the only necessary power valve & what size? Thanks
ran 3 94's on a 390 for 10 years, new owner has been running the same for another 14 years, no power valves in the outside carbs, blocked off, I ran all on all off, new owner runs progressive talk to a carby guy and get a second opinion
thats the way I ran it before... no power valves.... too hard to jet for me with all that fuel dumping, always seemed rich
Generally, you run much richer primary jets when eliminating power valves, but good luck trying to set up 3 different 94s! I would at least make the secondary 94s exactly the same.
with 94's, from memory there are about 5 different sizes, ranging from about 135CFM to 185CFM, I used 3 off the 185CFM off a 56 Ford, there is also s Bug Spray used on VW's off the top of my head I think these were 350CFM. Matching carbs makes a big difference. An expert in 94's should be able to correct me.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/354724419714 setting up Rochesters now. The end plate kit came with power valve plugs. haven’t done that to 94s though.
on my strombergs I just didn't run the accelerator pump rod... they start opening the power valve at half throttle...
you're gonna have a rich stumbling problem with that exhaust no matter what you do... torque band must be nere 5'000 rpms... and even worse if there are baffles...you have zero scavenge.... that set up needs a blower...#2 pipe is probley a foot longer than #8.... you need a collector and a 18'' scavenge pipe...
The “ power valve” is also known as as an “ economizer” valve. On the middle crab it has a function, enriching the carb for power , leaning it out while cruising. On a three two set up the outside carbs are for power only on a progressive linkage set up. So you only want a rich mixture, not lean. So….eliminate the power valve in the outside carbs , with a blocker, increase the size of the jets around six sizes or so , for a start. This makes tuning the carbs a little more straight forward. Also unhook the linkage on the two outside carbs and get the middle carb right on its own, then hook up the linkage and get the outside carbs right! Bones
