A decade, or so, back I picked up a side mount ignition set up for my B motor. I had the option of a magneto or a Mallory distributor. I chose the Mallory distributor as I had never seen one before. Anyone have any information on the distributor? I am now back working on my coupe, and want to get this set up sorted.
Wow that is fascinating! Do you have any more recent photos of it? The 8 plug cap leads me to believe it may be adapted from an 8BA style (ZB-247-AX) distributor. That side drive looks pretty unique, who's tag is on it? Was this one of Mikes? V8 conversions were around but not common from what I've seen. There's been a famous photo in Life magazine of the V8 diver helmet distributor running on top of the engine. Pretty cool stuff!
I carefully cleaned the tag. It is a model MY Serial number 90 I still can’t find any more information on it.
I picked up a NOS four cylinder cap for it. That wasn’t cheap . I have not yet looked to see if it has 8 lobes for the points. Who is the “Mike” to whom you refer?
