My hat's off to you. You're doing a fantastic job. That's lot of work but it's gonna be a fun car.

Minor score yesterday. 4 nice Fenton wheel centers. Also picked up some front tires off E-
Bay. I chose 1 inch whitewalls and masked them off down to 3/8 wide. Sprayed them with black Vinyl paint. Much cheaper than buying real narrow line tires and they are radials to boot. DSCN5189[1].JPG Screenshot 2024-03-12 223024.jpg DSCN5186[1].JPG DSCN5188[1].JPG DSCN5190[1].JPG

Yes^^. Everything else is so spot-on it seems a shame to put radials on it but, I get it. The 'correct' tires are at least 250 bucks each.

Finally wheels and tires mounted. Very inspirational! The rear tires are temporary for now just to see how they fit in the wheel wells. Looks like the rear end can be stock width.
The stance looks pretty good too. DSCN5195[1].JPG DSCN5196[1].JPG DSCN5198[1].JPG

That panel paint looks really nice. Feels great to roll it out in the sun, doesn't it? Good score on the Fenton caps, I'm in need of at least one myself.

  12. I'll second that "good score" on the Fenton caps, the car is looking good

One of the coolest 57's I have EVER seen:cool: About 100,000 times cooler than the real project X at this point, ain't that a shame lol. Nice work can't wait to see it lettered and some interior pics.

Time to cover the shifter hole. A quick look around turned up the front panel off the clothes drier to donate some flat sheet metal. A cardboard pattern and a few minutes with the plasma cutter and presto, instant patch. It'll look fine with carpet over it. DSCN5203[1].JPG DSCN5202[1].JPG

Genius sheetmetal repurposing job, really looks good.
I've seen a lot of "fixes" over the years for all the sins tri-five Chevys have suffered from multiple 3 and 4 speed transmission/shifter changes, from licence plates to flattened coffee cans.
    That turned out great.

Door panels are done! Reading the text and colorizing the black and white pictures, the interior is 3 colors. Black Carpet, headliner, and door panels. Brown seat sides and back, top of door panels and arm rest pads. Tan seat cushion faces. Compare the door panels to the magazine pics. I'm stoked. 9.jpg DSCN5207[1].JPG

Mounted the radiator. Copied the brackets they made to use a V8 radiator in the 6 cyl. position in front of the support. 16.jpg DSCN5213[1].JPG

It's been a while since the last update because I tweeked my back and couldn't get much done. The carpet is in and a shifter boot installed. Trunk is painted inside. Antenna installed. Slowly but surely DSCN5250[1].JPG DSCN5251[1].JPG DSCN5252[1].JPG .

Gotta admit I'm more than a little excited about how this is looking. I know it's not done yet. There's still a few more lettering to apply, but Damn!. DSCN5285[1].JPG

The Delray door panels are a great touch. Some folks don't know X was a factory Delray. Paint looks tremendous @Utahvette .

Just sold the aftermarket front tubular upper control arms on E-bay fir 251.62 bringing the purchase price to $3407.23. Hooray! under $3500 finally. Only took 14 months.

The only little snivel I have is the "newer" look of the tachometer, otherwise BANG ON!
