The flathead in my 40 coupe is shot and I have a good Chevy283 and adapter for it. Does anyone know where I can get a flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate for this conversion? Any help is appreciated. Really can't afford to have the flathead rebuilt.

I did a Ft Wayne pressure plate but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. IMG_2584.jpeg

First find a flywheel that will accept a 10" clutch- pressure plate. You may have to take your flywheel to a machine shop and have them drill the flywheel to accept the pressure plate. You will need a flywheel for a two piece rear main. Depending on the block, you will probably need a starter that bolts to the adapter and matches tooth count on flywheel. Speedway also sells a bushing for the crankshaft. This kit from Speedway should work.

Ft Wayne clutch is good but holy ******** they're proud of their stuff. Try here...

There used to be pics of their place somewhere in 'net land, and just 1 look said these are the guys. Good luck. VERY reasonable and friendly to deal with.

Quick edit, found a pic. Was I lying...;)

This fits lots of different Chevrolet p***enger cars, trucks from 1957 1958 1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 1964 1965 that use the large outside diameter flywheel but the small 10.4" clutch flywheel with 168 teeth.

I went with Fort Wayne as well. Not cheap but so far everything has lined up correctly. I went with a Summit racing 168 tooth flywheel as well that had the dual clutch bolt pattern

The Ft Wayne supplied Mercury Borg and Beck pressure plate part number is 1310.
Guess you chose not to read my previous post. The referenced thread should answer these questions.

^^^^^ Good point! Don’t know either unless it’s spring rates.

HotrodA, no, chevy pressure plate to a chevy flywheel and a Ford clutch disc. Then call Speedway for the correct pilot bearing. iv have done this several times.
