Disco still sucks, but I got a new toy (81 Z/28).

  1. 81 Z/28. Real Z/28 in pretty decent driver shape. It's got a 408 with EFI. Production 400 heads, mild cam, Edelbrock intake. Built TH400 with a 3k stall, built 10 bolt with a Detroit locker. Traded my 89 Mustang straight up. Pretty fair trade in my opinion, my Fox was one of the cleanest around.

Nice Z, love yhat bidy style, great hood design. My neighbor had an 80 Z28 when I was growing up, really nice car. I believe he still has it and recently completed a nice restoration on it.

  7. Had an 80 Z28 in high school, black on black 4spd 350 t-top car .

Back when they were pretty much worthless !!

The disco Z. One of my favorites. If I happened across a 4 gear with t-tops I would buy it.

  9. Ok, what are these heads? They’re not the 882s I thought they were. After cleaning them up, there are 2 little spikes. Not rounded like double humps, but pointed. There is a coolant port on the passenger side head like a double hump.

Only one sure way to know, and that's to pull the valve covers and look.

  11. Yeah I haven't gotten to that point yet. I think they're early production 400 heads from all the digging I've done. 3951598 castings. Would make sense being on a 400 block.
Engine seems pretty stout, has gobs of mid-range grunt.

Bought this78 Z-28, 350 with 4 speed the April of 1980, never drove it in our Wisconsin winters, my daughter became caretaker a few years ago and we take our cars to shows a couple of times every summer
