    1939 Chevy Sedan lowered rake

    Hello,

We have seen our share of 39 chevy sedans made into hot rods, customs and show cars. There was even one that had the rear so low that he needed a steel skid plate under his sedan. Yes, of course during the daylight and he lowered the rear area, we saw sparks. But at night, it was a perfect show to watch it throw a ton of sparks back out of the sedan as he kept rolling down the street.

The custom wheel culture goes in all directions. There is no one wheel that says custom car. So, the multiple wire wheels look larger when used with lower profile tires and that fits both old and new concepts. Back in the early cruising days, there were low profile tires, but, just in smaller sizes. A lot of custom car builders just bought a smaller overall diameter tire to fit the standard 15 inch rim of sorts. Thereby, making the large rim/small tire concept on rolling cars. Even though the rims were the same size as the ones sold at chrome shops.

The far end of that concept was to go to a smaller rim and get the world’s smallest tire in a 12 or 13 inch size. Then, use a similar size rim to compliment the tire/rim combo. It was not obviously a long road trip tire/rim concept, but just for neighborhood gatherings and community shows.

For those that don’t like lowered rakes in the normal front lower aspect, there is always the "lower in the back" attitude to give it a slight nose in the air stance. It would definitely need a steel plate to protect all parts underneath the sedan. YRMV

More awards for a couple reliability runs. Haven’t put them completely together yet, but will this evening. Artwork on the bases by Alan Childers.

There are a bunch of great guys in Cumming GA. that put on a great show called the Hot Rod Revival.
Really hardcore guys ... a nice intimate show in the Spring.... and of course the ground pounding Mercy Coupe.
    These guys are really fun!

I'm working on some new stuff, but here's one I shared on my first FAS a few months ago....ring and pinion bar table I welded together for some friends. Had to build it in two halves then set them together and weld from there.
