First event today, only drove a few miles.. car has an exhaust leak what's the leak proof process to.seal the model b manifold to the exhaust pipe?
Both straight ends of the dipstick should be in the hole. Yours seem to be bent out a bit. That keeps it from rattling. Never seen any type of seal. Nice job n the roof!
thanks all. bent the dipstick a little and it stays put (and holds oil better) so that problem is "solved"? still need to improve the exhaust leak issue. took the car for a few rides locally, was hoping to take it to hershey but havent had time to apply finish to the roof..
the last time I took a flange apart like that it had some sort of “gasket” that wraps around the connection before the clamp goes over it. Might be a good question for the weekly banger thread if it’s a stock set up
If you intend to keep it original, and I would, you should post your serial number (with the last couple of digits blanked out if you are concerned about posting it) as eventually you will ask about something that changed during production. I assume you are familiar with the Early Ford V8 Club and their judging standards for the '32 ((https://shop.efv8.org/collections/ford-books/products/1932-ford-book-softbound-all-new)? It is interesting to note that the author of the judging standards hangs out on fordbarn.com. If you decide to go to hydraulic brakes (I assume it is currently mechanical) the attached picture shows how I mounted my master cylinder without cutting anything. The fill cap for the master cylinder ended up under the original battery cover and I relocated to battery to the right side. Charlie Stephens
I changed over to hydraulics 50 years ago. Try asking your question on fordbarn.com and the Early Ford V8 site (https://www.earlyfordv8.org/forum/viewtopics.cfm?Forum=19). Just be sure there is plenty of meat left on the drums and shoes. Charlie Stephens
what can I say 2023 was good to me.. with my dads help we were able to get the brakes adjusted over the holiday. And.. thanks to a break from other jobs I was able to install the roof on my new to me 34 ford wagon..
Finally got around to installing the roof material (twice!) a few months ago I had found some "NOS" long grain vinyl roof material, and used some if it. when I went back to the package i discovered that the remainder was seamed and would not provide the appropriate width, needless to say I installled what i had for a few days until fresh new material arrived.. this is the in progress shot
last week (during our 100 degree heatwave here in the north east) I took a few hours away from the shop and attended "teds antique auto picnic" which occurs on a Wednesday, at lunchtime. several wagons were in attendance, I liked this t alot.
I've decided to add a passenger side taillight and a 3rd brake light assembly (both easily removed by design) to feel a little better about driving in traffic. photos soon
used the wagon at the aaca fall meet in hershey to "huckster" a few parts.. then earned a junior in the show still needs upholstery
