Thought y’all would get a kick out of my wheel project. I traded a guy a cheap 12 gauge shotgun for this vintage set of AR 200’s that I was told were 15 x 10”. Overly excited I didn’t check through them in the car and got him home, only to measure and find out they were 14 x 8”… The gun was another trade deal on some parts I got for free so no big loss but now I’m stuck with a set of usless 14” wheels, they were excellent but also were 5x 4.75” Chevy bolt pattern that I was told were Ford/Mopar 5x 4.5” and fit nothing I owned. I always believe things happen for a reason and a guy I knew wanted me to restore his 1970’s custom Harley Servi-Car Chopper and 2 of the 4 found a proper home!
I had my buddy Russell of Russell’s Custom Polishing in Gilbert AZ Polish the lips, then some gold base and fine gold flake for the centers with a matte finish clear.
I quickly called up Radir Tires and had them send a set of 14x8” Cheeter Slicks to Diamondback to Have the wide whitewalls removed and a 3/8” gold stripe added high on the sidewall. I was trying to replicate the Firestone Indy 500’s from 1967 I had back in the day.
The finished product looks Bitchin’! im giving the Chopper a 60’s/70’s Drag Race vibe and these will make it Killer!!! I love the Crossed Flag tread! Awesome Throwback! Hope y’all Dig them as much as I do! I’ll post the bike when it’s finished.
Love 'em. Had an OT car that scumbags yanked all 4 wheels from. Ended up saving and buying AR 200s for it. The first new wheels I bought.
I had some 4 spoke Daisy wheels on a Fiat in college but don't recall the ribbing outlining the spokes on the back edge of the spokes. Were there more than one series of this style wheel?
Here’s a closeup of the OP’s wheel, the earlier 200S wheels have a band around the rim that is wider where marked and the edges of the flats had a radius making them look a bit less pronounced.
