It was mentioned that I should post my request for some knowledge here.

I purchased a side mount set up a long while back.
I am now back on my coupe project and want to sort out the side drive on my B motor.

I purchased it because of the Mallory distributor.
I did not want to use a mag.

I am having a hard time finding any information on the Mallory distributor used on my set up.

Anyone have any information that would be helpful? IMG_0403.jpeg

It’s been a while but I find myself tearing down another engine. It’s the first time I’ve come across these adjustable lifters. What tool will I need to remove the valve springs? IMG_8460.jpeg

Probably a regular valve spring compressor. Collapse the spring and remove the split keys that hold the lower spring retainer onto the valve stem. Release the sprig retainer, remove the valve and then the spring and retainer can be taken out. Pretty much the same as removing valves from a stock engine except there are a pair of keys and a retainer rather than a one piece retainer on the mushroomed valve stem. Hope I'm not missing something.........

Thanks for the reply, The valve spring tool I have worked for the stock springs and retainers but is inadequate for these springs and retainers. I should have asked what style I need. I’ll locate a different style than what I have.

Made the 1500 mile roundtrip to Schwalm’s to drop off all the pieces for my B engine build. Left my house 11:30 PM on Thursday night and made it home at 3:30 AM this morning. I guess you can say I’m all in on performance oriented Model As and Bs,
I had bought a Burtz for my Model B pickup and reversed course on my decision. I just couldn’t put an A engine in my Model B. The engine will consist of a D4B high compression B head and water pump. Going to with a 1R grind cam and a set of Ross forged pistons. Hopefully I’ll get the short block back in 3 months.
On a side note Ora at Schwalm’s has been great to deal with an I have full confidence in his ability to deliver an excellent product. IMG_8518.jpeg IMG_8455.jpeg IMG_8461.jpeg

  24. Checking in! I've had some free time, so I decided to design a new cover for myself. Really interested in experimenting with investment casting, so we'll see what happens!

On a side note, who is familiar with Frontenac information? Looking to learn all I can about them!

  26. Calling out all Fronty Fanatics!

I'm chasing the history of Frontenac.

Im familiar with the Model R, S, T, Gerber, and the Stagger Valve.

I read somewhere that there were single stick conversions, with varying abbreviations like OR and OSR or something of the likes. Does anyone know the history of those conversions? Barney Oldfield Collection 060.jpg

I was out and about today, and ran into a mate who took and posted this photo on Stalkbook.

This ol’ girl doesn’t scrub up too bad, if I say so myself. Even better when you know that the paint is over 40 years old.

The single overhead cam Fronty conversions normally used an 8 valve model SR head, although some were made up using the 8 valve model R heads. The SR heads were also offered in a rocker arm version. The OHC setup used a roller chain drive with a tensioner sprocket contained in the front cover. All the SR heads were twin spark and used 18mm plugs. SR heads have twin intake ports and three exhaust ports.

Here is a picture of one at Speedy Bills:

  29. Thanks Dan! If I remember correctly, there was someone on here with a supercharged fronty. Do you know who that is by any chance?
