I didn’t pick either of the up or ride them to school , but have ridden a straight piped Harley to visit the principal . Nothing the kids did bad , just make last tuition payment .

When my daughter was in high school I dropped and picked her up quite often in classics from the 50's to the 70's, I was tacking the opportunity to test drive cars after restoration to find the bugs. Simca, Citroën, Peugeot, Panhard, Mercedes, Jaguar, Porsche and her favorite one a '56 Corvette that she was calling the space ship.
Luckily I only broke down when alone.

My dad sometimes picked me up in the T pickup in my profile pic. It was always fun when he did it.

I used to strap both of my grandkids in the passenger seat when I picked them up from school. This year the same granddaughter pictured asked to use the car for senior pictures. 20150703_125538.jpeg IMG_0417.jpeg IMG_4733.jpeg

Years ago I drove my daughter and her friends to their high school prom in my ride and on the way one of them asked what car I drove to my prom and I told them the same one they are in now.

There was a story I believe in Rod Action magazine about this tub. Story goes during the video shoot the the engine back fired through the blower and messed the engine up. Also That "Hot For Teacher" painted on the side of the car left a ghost image on the paint and had to be buffed out.

I used to drop off and pick up my kids every day in my '39. It was my only car.

Ironically, this photograph is the only shot of mine that ever won an LFI award. I took it with my M7 over my shoulder... Pure happenstance.

One kid is now a Junior in high school and the other is in College. The third wasn't even in school yet.

Man...some of the best pictures come from not even looking into the camera. ^^^^^^^^
Point it in the general direction, click and wow.
    Gotta love it.

When my granddaughter was in high school she didn't quite fit in as she was a straight A student, and socially awkward too. I used to occasionally pick her up in my old Austin gasser and she told me whenever I did the next day kids were always more friendly to her.

Picked up my daughters from jr. high a few times in Clarence. They loved it.

When Meredith (now 44) was in high school I let her drive Clarence to Rock Bridge High School a few times. Every time she came home gushing about how every boy in school wanted to know whose panel truck that was. After they found out she was driving it they wanted to know all the particulars; engine/trans/etc. She knew all the details and amazed them with her knowledge. She is now married to a gearhead. Her husband's family is all into Chevrolet muscle cars. Today if you say SBC firing order she says 18436572. She told me 25 years ago that she wanted to own Clarence someday. It'll be hers when I'm gone. She doesn't know life without Clarence. I bought it 8 years before she was born. I don't have any pix of their school days, but here is Meredith in her driveway last summer:

Never caught her at school... buut
I taught my daughter to drive when 12yrs old in the DD.
Then one Sunday I picked up her, and two middle school girl friends in my 24 Tudor.
I demo'ed the gas valve, the 3 pedals, and the high gear stick.
She wouldn't bite, but her girlfriend took the challenge.
She ran the 4 of us around the large parking lot behind the mall.
The next year I had her using the clutch in my 4x4.
When I was in high school I drove myself in a 20 year old Dodge

  19. I remember a bunch of us would get picked up in a ‘49 Chevy more door back in the 70’s. It was our first year in high school and none of us had a car yet. It was just an old car then but it already had a cool factor about it.

There used to be a monthly column in Rod Action by Kathy Ashby about custom cars. I remembered her saying that the kids would duck down in the seat when approaching the school because they were embarassed about being seen in an old car. My sister had a similar comment about her kids but with her car it was because it was such a lousy car.

A couple weeks ago my son wanted to pick up my granddaughter from middle school in my '32 roadster. The top was off, I leave it off when driving locally. Sure, no problem. In the pick up car line there was a brief downpour. I figured he had checked the weather forecast but in Florida rain popping up is pretty routine. When he brought it back I think my comment was It'll dry, no big deal.

It’s always fun to take the Roadster to school. Last fall was a very chilly morning just above freezing but well worth it.

a few years ago I used to strap in the car seat. Always attracted questions from the other parents on how that works
