Bought the 67 Fury VIP 383 at 13, sold it and bought the 66 Coronet 500 (father son project) Sold it for the 68 Charger 440 4 Speed and at 19 traded it for the 1970 Challenger 440 (factory HP383 4 speed non R/T) that I still own. Id love to have the old blue Coronet 500 back and I plan on getting the real 68 R/T 4 speed I sold to a friend.
And hung onto mom and pops 71 GTX 4 Speed, Pops 69 Charger R/T he bought in 1970, my FM3 70 Charger 500 I’ve had since I was 23. the numbers matching 71 Charger R/T is a project I bought last year.
do you know where the red 4 door 66 Coronet is? I think they built a beige one, and a black one and I believe another that was crushed.
I believe the red one was originally ordered and sold new to Floyd Cline. The last I remember it went to auction (B-J) around 2007 or 2008 I think, not sure what happened to it since. I believe 5 total were build, 3 in the US and 2 exports, 1 went to Canada.
Back then, if you had the right salesman, and he knew how to write up the order, you could get just about any combination of parts on any car (or truck) directly from a Chrysler division. The catch was, you had to pay for the full amount of the optioned car you ordered, along with the order. Then you had to wait for Chrysler to build it for you. Chrysler required oddly optioned cars to be fully paid for in advance, that way they knew they were not going to be stuck with it, after it was built, without it being already have been paid for. There were a lot of one off cars (and trucks) Chrysler built that don't show up on the standard listings, because they were all specially built. Chrysler didn't track specially built unless there were more then one ordered and paid for in advance. The challenge to prove it was a real vehicle built by Chrysler meant you have to have all the original documentation.
A couple went to the F.B.I. er the C.I.A. I think they were white... One was featured in hotrod or car craft in the '80s I think.
My dream car! But for now, I bring all my cash to Zillow https://zillow.pissedconsumer.com/review.html as we are getting a new property these weeks. It’s super exciting but also a bit stressful—so many documents and details to sort out. Still, it's worth it in the end. Hopefully once everything is settled, I can refocus on that dream car again.
