I’ve been wondering about the weight of my G Series 6 with the Madis head. So I picked up a digital scale for my hoist and was surprised at the results. The engine with the Madis aluminum head installed only weighed 382.5 pounds. This is the weight of the engine without clutch or flywheel. That’s not much more than a Model A. With that in mind, the Madis 6 will probably be going into my boat tail speedster that’s currently powered by a hopped up A engine. It will be an upgrade from 80hp to around 125hp. The car weighs about 1500 pounds. IMG_1736.jpeg

The G Series flathead six was produced from 1941 to 1947. The Madis aluminum head for that engine was built by Madis Engineeting in Bellflower California. My engine is pictured as it was in the previous owner’s track roadster that ran with the CRA in the late 40’s IMG_1737.jpeg

I had an “H” series Ford flathead 6 a few years ago with the intent of putting it in a roadster. I searched for quite a while looking for speed parts before I gave up and sold the motor. I saw a Knudsen cylinder head at the Carlisle swap meet a few years back, but it was priced at $2500.Hard to find speed parts.
