Hi guys after you helped me with the overhaul of my 235 chev two years ago (it still runs fine), I turn to you with a new problem. My th700r4 has been making whining noises in all gears for some time. After some internet research, I suspected the torque converter. (only one year old after overhaul) But after dis***embly I realized that the oil pump input bearing was rotating in the pump housing and demolished the torque converter shaft. How can I get the bearing firmly back into place? Please give me some repair suggestions. In Germany such oil pump housings are hard to find and expensive. Thanks in advance
It has been done, but there are several modifications involved. There is lots of discussions about the conversion on modern chevy forums. See post #32 on this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/1972790-700r4-tips-tricks-master-thread-2.html
The 93-94 4l60e pump body ( holds the front bushing / rotor ) last 3 casting #s 132. Will retro to your 90 pump cover. If the only issue, is with the front pump body bore. A local transmission shop, that rebuilds/reconditions 700r4 pumps. May possibly, be able to repair it. Or a competent local machinist.
