Every 1932 Model B I have seen had the number starting with the letter B. This one starts with AB. followed by 505629 2
Good reading here... sounds like an early '32 4 cylinder https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3918
Yup, early 32. The first 5 was just a starting place, so your car was the 56,292nd off the line, essentially. Probably produced before the V8’s really got going heavy down the line. My sedan is also early, with a 50,000 number as well. Mine was the 180th tudor to go down the line at the Des Moines assembly plant. Look on the top side of the body floor crossmember, right where the front of the seat bolts down. In the middle should be a number and a couple letters. Tell us what you find there.
You are missing the question. Why would a Model B have AB at the beginning of the number? Every other one I have seen simply has B.
Because that’s what Ford did on the early production 32’s. You’ve probably never seen an early 32 before.
There were a whole bunch of running changes during the 1932 production, and my car has some of the early versions. Maybe yours does too, besides the serial number. How about posting more pics of the car?
