I believe for the clips, you're either stuck making them or robbing them off a donor wheel. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding. Beautiful job on the crossmember.

I had my 15" wide 5's powder coated & should have removed the clips prior as they serve no purpose on my open wheel.

  7. Thank you sir! Yeah I’m not planning on running caps but thought heck might be nice to have the option!

  9. Total long shot but was thinking of running a old chrome or nickle plated 32 grill- I know that’s rare as hens teeth but let’s play the game, anyone holding?

I may have some clips. (No rivets though) Will send them along with your other stuff:D

    Beautiful job on the crossmember!

Now, if I can just find a pair of 18" Kelsey Hayes Wide 5s.

  11. I got one extra Bruce! It’s a bit rough but still. Half ways there

  12. Put a few hours into the rear cross member- definitely a lot of work! Would have been easier to remove the whole thing and fix in a complete model a crossmember. Happy with the result though- some trimming underneath and some hot rivets and I’ll call it done. I plan on painting the inside the the frame rails and crossmembers again.

Will prep and primer wheels and get those done in gloss black in order to get the tires fitted! Another step closer to getting this rolling!

Looks like the Lord sent it down!

  14. I know it's something that will rarely (ever?) get seen after the body goes on, but I LOVE how you molded the Model A to the 32 crossmember. Flows nicely and just gives a different feel.

  17. Frames flipped over, sections of the old 32 crossmember are removed and will finalize the welding and blending. Got excited to see what the Model T spring sat like.. might be a bit too low!

If it’s too low, switch in an A spring.

  20. Rear crossmember is officially finished.
Welded inside and out, blended, hot riveted, primed and painted.
I then loosely mocked up the rear axle using the QC and ‘36 radious rods. Little worried about the model T spring but can run a Model A spring if needed. Excited to get the rear axle built in order to get it all bolted up for the last time.
    Also might need to run different shackles as when the u bolt plates are right side up they does catch the threads IMG_5672.jpeg IMG_5689.jpeg IMG_5693.jpeg IMG_5688.jpeg IMG_5685.jpeg IMG_5686.jpeg IMG_5698.jpeg IMG_5699.jpeg IMG_5716.jpeg IMG_5715.jpeg IMG_5714.jpeg IMG_5712.jpeg IMG_5720.jpeg IMG_5722.jpeg IMG_5723.jpeg IMG_5725.jpeg IMG_5728.jpeg IMG_5727.jpeg IMG_5727.jpeg

  21. Over the next week I plan to get this back rolling! I want to finish the 36 radious rods and fir those to get everything painted. Then it’s on to the hubs and spindles.
A photo from what seemed to be another life time. Excited to get this one rolling.

  22. Due to the drive shaft relocation nearly 3” lower than the factory ‘36 center I needed to head and bend the radious rods to fit properly.
Also the distance of the pinion flange was a 1/4” shorter on the Quick Change so I needed to make a spacer plate.
Where the leaf spring mounts was really worn so I popped some brass inside and tig welded it back up and hit it with the scaler.
Now to get this Rear end built and installed.

  24. While still awaiting the carrier bearings for the rear end to build I decided to clean up and paint the wheels. fronts are 16” narrow V860 rims and rear are 18” Kelsey Hayes. I didn’t high build or try and make them perfect. I bit of 2k gloss and some character is what I was after.
    Tires tomorrow!

Even though those wheels are wide five bolt pattern, to me, the artillery style spokes are still one of the most interesting, artistic style of wheels ever created from that time period!
    Simply magnificent!

That solid black looks great & can't say I've ever seen the Ford wide 5's with factory pin stripping, but an interesting option, G.M./Mopar & others offered artillery wheels some with multi color accent stripping, then too Ford offered the accessory S.S.one piece scalloped spoke hub cap combo to liven things up, but only in the 16" I believe.

These are custom made by" EVOD" and are really well done, super spendy though at $2000.00 each. They were a set of a off design for a Dave Kindig project. They are elegant indeed.
