Man. sorry you are going through that. Hope the real damage os not great once the water is gone. We're on the other end of that, so dry here. I'd be glad the have 1/2 of that without lightning.
That… was a hard eight months for the family. And it’s still ongoing. Thanks to all you hooligans for the kind thoughts. Joey, I’ll be in touch, friend. Now… where were we…?
Sometimes life kicks our butt's. It's no fault of our own. When it does, it's about how you get back up after being knocked down. Glad you're back at it with renewed enthusiasm, pal!
"Tenacity and patience, is the primary fuel that feeds progress" "Perfection, cannot be rushed" As Matt said, glad you are not daunted and are back at it! Thanks from Dennis.
Well… Basement was 100% flooded. Furnace, water heater, oil tank, sump pumps, various electrical… all total loss. Foundation (circa 1860 stone rubble) damaged and still needs repaired. We’re experiencing significant settlement and getting plaster cracking and windows sticking. Front porch. Should be able to save the structure. ‘63 Olds Cutlass. Totaled. ‘78 Suburban. Totaled. My shop had 18” of water and lots of tools were ruined. ‘52 Ferguson tractor and brush deck. I’m still trying to save it. Canoe. Gone. Our schoolhouse had 20” of water. Still tearing out Sheetrock and insulation to replace. Almost everything we had in there was lost. Various hot rod stuff gone. Apparently wire wheels with rotten tires still float. Ha. There’s more. But those are the “highlights”. We’ll recover. It’s just… stuff.
Hey Ryan and family. There is just no way I can give a like to this post! Man that is a lot of damage and loss, just no way to get around that, except to just deal with it as best as you can, and as stated, its just stuff, but that doesn't lessen the over all reality of it! This is a strong, resilient family indeed!
That is a lot to lose and deal with. Hope you have some help. Glad the family is safe! Here it is wildfires. I have friends who lost everything just a few miles from here. It seems every part of the country has its downside. A lot of it has to do with too much or too little water. I wish God had taken one more day to spread it out more evenly.
Oh man so sorry to read there was so much damage and loss. Any chance you could get the Cutlass back via the salvage auctions?
Oh man. I couldn't imagine what that is like. So glad you have re-connected back here. Hang in there, holding the family together is so important in these days, your kids will remember the way you are picking yourselves up for the rest of their lives. Well done. It's not the difficulties in the journey but the direction you are heading.
Thanks for the kind thoughts, everyone. I could have. It would just be too much with everything else. My soul was sort of deflated when the flood happened and I couldn’t imagine managing my home and family with two totaled vehicles in the yard to deal with. It was hard, but I had to turn the page.
Yep. Me too! It's amazing that tub didn't float away. Was it in one of the buildings, or just sitting on that other frame?
So much floated away, but we got lucky with the body. As I moved the chassis yesterday, water was coming out of the speedometer fitting on the torque tube. Apparently I still need to get more water out. Sigh…
