Ok 'yall, last time I bother you about 1950 Buicks for a while. (I hope) I appreciate the help. The car is getting really close to being back on the road after 40 years totally blown apart and like normal, the last 10% is kicking my ****. and in 40 years, parts went missing. The car I have is an early (pre March) hood latch system with he key. I'm missing the rear 2 hinge/latches. Looks like they should be longer than the front 2. As far as I can tell, these are impossible to find. I do have a full late set up with the pull cords, fenders and a hood I kept from my 4 door. Problem is, I really, really want to keep the hood and fenders for this car as it all matches age and color. The patina on this car is amazing and I really, really don't want to paint it. Has anyone ever done the conversion? I have read the service bulletin on converting, but it makes zero sense to me. https://www.hometownbuick.com/1950-buick-ch***is-sheet-metal-maintenance/ I have one inner fender and can easily get another for the late style, which I can swap out easily, but hoping someone here has done this swap and can offer a bit of guidance. (or has 2 rear hinges to sell me) Thanks Jason
Or, do you think it would be easier drilling out the rivets and spot welds in the inner structure and swapping them out? I could nut and bolt the center rivets and re weld the sides with the hinge mounts. They are the same measurements
