A recent one, a quick freshen of a Tall 4 Port for Jay Rust. This is a later version where Hilborn upgraded to a 3/8" Shaft. A little less work for me in this case. Beautiful car!

Here is a Hilborn Shotgun Injector, these seem to be king in the A/Fuel ranks. There are some cast with "Gene Adams" on the side that Hilborn made. This one had a really bent shaft and lost its shaft clearance. I cleaned up the blades, bores, and gave it a quick spit shine. Also bushed the casting for the shaft, made a new 7/16" shaft and also broached the ends for a 36 tooth serration. Broaching is something new I recently had to learn, very expensive tooling, but now I'm one of few in the country that does it for injector shafts when required.

Question for you. Have you ever had a Hilborn for a slant six pass through your shop? I have the prototype unit #101 that was on the Dragmaster Dart Six C-Dragster that ran from 62-mid 64. The 11 production units that were sold from 68-72 were totally different and mounted to the head like astandart slant intake.
I have a deal made to buy unit #110 that has bern in Australia since the 70's and have been working on tracking down the rest of the production units.

I have not had one roll through here yet. I will mention that with all of the inventory that I have and with talking to the family and former employees there were a ton of injector models that never made it into any of their catalogs. I have many prototype injectors, some went to production, and some never went past a prototype. Stu Hilborn was trying to inject the world! I even have an injector for an Evenrude outboard boat motor!

Here is one I built for Daniel Bantz who is racing with the Southeast Gasser Association. Ray Barton built the 426 based Hemi for it and I sent them the injector to port match it so I could take over from there. Completely gone through and updated for a modern racing situation. I even bored the casting from a 2-7/16" to a 2-5/8". Lots of hand porting and hand blending, turned out very nice.

Been porting heads and intakes for going on 23 years now. Sometimes it feels good to get a grinder back in my hands.

These pieces were pressed together. I left a step to dial in the harmonic length the best I could for this situation and target peak RPM. 459150713_8355080491248024_7653091748388938618_n.jpg

Something, something about that old dirty joke - "injection is best" leaps to mind.

Here was an interesting one. This was an early 1/13/16" injector for an Early Chrysler Hemi. It arrived with two different bore sizes from Hilborn (likely a repair at some point) so I bored them to be the same. Also made aluminum blades for it and completely went through everything. Basically, back to new after I was finished. Even had a rare set of stacks for it.

Here I'm using an Intrimik Gage to measure the bores size. It will measure down to a couple tenths (.0002) so they are very accurate.

Cool old article I found with a similar model on display. Racer Brown.

This one is picture heavy and I left many photos out.
What I started with, a beat up casting full of cracks, lots of welding to repair.
    20220714_001608.jpg
Cracks all along the nozzle bosses.
    20220714_072018.jpg
"X" marking all the bores with cracks. I have no clue how this happened, likely a wreck at some point.

    Welding the areas in.

Layout showing how I plan to offset bore this casting. I welded the exterior in some areas to add some meat in some critical areas but I'm going from a 2.187 bore to a 2.400....... nobody has done this before to this casting.

At the dyno, they never made an adjustment through many dyno pulls from where I had all the initial settings.

I have put some thought into efi but could never get it all thought out. Nick, you make it look so simple! Another great and prefect looking job!

Here's a 2 Port Injector for a 4-71 Blower. Did some casting weld repairs on this one, completely remachined the casting, sent out for some polishing, and did a EFI Conversion that was a bolt on deal so it could be converted back to a mechanical injection piece and to help retain its value.

Here is one I did for Joe Jacobsen for the Southeast Gasser Group / Brew City Gassers. It originally was built for a -12 Brodix head (15°) and I modified it to fit a standard SBC 23° head. I have a nice mag cerakote color that is custom mixed. Looks killer with chrome, black, and brass accent colors.
