Here is a photo of the Allard engine. Take a look at the front suspension, it has a beam axle with coil springs but no visible means of locating the axle front/ to rear. There is an upright inside the spring but I was unable to make out what type of material it is made of, either way I did not see any radius rods, or Panhard type sideways locator.
I talked to the owner but he was unable to answer the question. ( it is RH drive)

As I was leaving, I believe I saw Chris Karamesines in the parking lot, I know, I should have asked for a pic and talked with him

I don’t know a lot about Allard’s but I do know some were fitted with an unusual front suspension. An early Ford beam axle was cut in half and fitted with a provision on each end at the center to allow the axle ends to pivot up and down. Naturally the coil springs handled the suspension duties but think about the camber changes the front end went through with that odd suspension. The cars with that front end must have been ill handling beasts on a race course.
And I wonder, were tube shocks installed in the coils?

I like the roll of toilet paper in the Stude Indy car. For those "ooops" moments.

I was not able to look at the center of the axle because the front end was tilted open, there very well could have been a pivot point in the center. The tube shocks were mounted outside the coils closer to the spindles, ( visible in the picture) the tube inside the coils looked like it could have been steel but that would have defeated the compression of the spring.
In the picture I posted you can also see the canvas limiting straps under the axle. The tilt front clip was hydraulically operated, the pump was under the floor and a removable handle was placed in the pump and manually pumped, ( like an engine lift) there were two slave cylinders one on each side of the hinges.
