Projects 1960 merc ragtop 1st drive

    I love the fender mount mirrors! That first ride is great isn’t it! My own car isn’t roadworthy from my fall paint job because I am redoing the interior since it was out, plus I need to cut and buff the paint before putting the chrome back on it.

    I converted from automatic to a 3speed floor sjift i got the shifter arms on wrong so now low gear is to the left and forward!!. Maybe an effective theft deterent??

    I dont have the top replaced yet. But i do have a new top, black.i was thinking too how a starlimer roof would look

    @birdman1 If it makes you feel any better, back in about 1965 I got "a good deal" on a SparkoMatic floor shift kit, I installed it in my 63 Fairlane the same way. I wasn't the sharpest kid on the block. I think I left it that way until I picked up a top loader four speed after I got out of the Army.

  20. When I was 16 I bought a truck with a three on the floor. Seller had warned me that right after starting you had to give it some gas before going into first because the carb wasn't quite right. So having never driven a manual with less than 4 gears and being sixteen I wound it to about 2500.....and did a 100 yard burnout in reverse lol
