Worlds slowest engine assembly
Picked up these old lifters yesterday. NOS bulk lifters from Rocco and Cheaters

Slicked em up and slid em in

 

1937, 1955, and 1956: best lookin' trucks Chevrolet ever made; imho. I'd love to snag a '55 or '56 for a DD pickup.

 

Now that is a real score! I hunted ebay for months to create a full set of NOS GM lifters for my latest BBC. They can keep all these junk new lifters.

 

These are probably standadyne stock bulk lifters. That’s what the inside looked like. This shop hasn’t had new parts show up since the mid 90s.

 

Modified power window regulators

 

The 434 Big Block is done and ready for the 29 dodge. Hope the owner knows what to do with that much HP ! Should be terrorizing the streets sometime late next week. Yes the car has 3 pedals.

Boring ole timing chain

LocTite and torqued
Installed the oil galley plug with a little red loctite and pinged em with a spring loaded center punch

and silicon bronzed a couple spots on my pick up tube/screen

 

I'm working on getting around this Pilfer Proof tape so I can pilfer the contents

 

The whole torque curve is sweet!

Well, I was raised building fords. This is my first 283. The 350 I used in my bus was assembled by students and instructor. My students and I made it look good. We do all the fab work as well So I guess this is my first sbc without supervision.
Next time I might tap em and screw in pipe plugs. kinda didnt want to do that after I got this far

 

Yikes, that’s freight train torque, what it is going in sounds fun for sure.

Up date from post #5150;
Two test drives,an all is good,no leaks now.
Seem to take along time for that. 6 trys. # 6 gets the star so far.
Last fix,that now worked,I used JB Weld to fill in all low spots,an refile flat,also went to new sealer,"Motoseal"good to 400* is clam. vs not using>Permatex #1 hard setting.

Found a private junkyard 15 minutes from home..Rebuilt Chevy 350 in a row truck , Turbo 400 , Early GM steering columns with keys ,, and much more .Owner is a friend of a friend..Pics coming...

Masking to touch up paint on door frame before installing door panels.

 

Got a chance to road test the new front springs/suspension earlier today. The old girl feels like she's a teenage queen again and almost* ready to rock'n'roll like for another 35+** years & 100.000+ miles, not to mention proving there's no school like old school.

*She still wants her new rear springs to feel 100% to take on any adventure roads ahead can offer (After 3.5 years and 14K+ miles, a new set of tires are also at the top of the short shopping list).

** Well technically, the original front springs were (& the rears still are) 93 years old with who knows how many miles beyond the +/-100K I've put on them.
