Going to see if I can get back in the saddle...
I had feedback encouraging me to do another road trip thread
I will probably be trip light and event heavy...but we will see how it works out...it will be make it up as I go.
Leaving with and traveling with a long time buddy...I'm used to running solo. He has a unique 40/41 Ford Roadster P/U that is on a '35 frame. It ran 'time only' at Bonneville, multiple years
I'm taking the '31 Vicky with a Cragar/Miller OHV banger conversion...I've been getting it road ready, just need to pick up and throw in a 16" tire tube so we don't have any flats...
Weather has rain forecast but looks intermittent
On the road 5 am tomorrow morning with a room reserved in Guymon OK
Really looking forward to seeing my Hot Rod and Kustom brothers

    Cheers

Decided to adjust valves at the last minute...what a mess...I know I have good oiling at idle ... I guess that is reassuring 17459395503865708604865650120006.jpg

    Thanks for following along !!!
Well... 'everything happens for a reason'....my oldest employee used to tell me that all the time ..
I got the valves 'adjusted'...I believe that the base circle of this cam, isn't concentric with the rotating center of the cam...this is a huge problem with the regrinds we banger boys have with our performance junk.
The distributor has to come out to remove the valve cover. There is a riser extension to get the distributor above the valve cover. It has a faster with a lock nut...same as the stock distributor lock down in the stock flathead.
When reassembling, I noticed the lock down wasn't tight and the distributor was loose in the riser. The riser and distributor stay together when removing them to take the valve cover off. The threads in the riser, for the lockdown are comprised...when you go to tighten the lock nut, it just draws the fastener out of the housing....
No problem, I have another one...
Uhhh, oh it is in the A distributor box that I loaned to a friend while getting his car running....
An hour and a half later got the rough cast part....
All cleaned up, half fasst polished and back in....
The dizzy is secure...I'm sure it would have become a problem, before the end of the trip, with the old riser IMG_20250429_140513512.jpg IMG_20250429_142114190_HDR.jpg IMG_20250429_142826528_HDR.jpg

I want to believe the Hop Up is ready for the road

Thanks for coming along Phil....Guymon is an easy first day out and allows us to doddle along the way.
It is going to be unusual for me to be traveling with someone else

Thanks for joining in and riding along

    Awesome...welcome
    Happy you are here Danny

There was a lot of encouragement...and it is still coming
I've been telling Darrel...my traveling buddy, all about that 'normal restaurant' in Bartlesville. Planning on it
Thank you Tim, it is a pleasure to have you along. Are you going to be there or am I going to miss your in person company?

My friend Jamie Johnson built a '40 Roadster PU that ran at Bonneville. Is it the same one your friend will drive on your adventure? As is everything that Jamie builds the '40 was a work of art and very functional. Best wishes for a safe trip. Ron

I'm sitting here in the dark due to Thunnderstorms that killed the power. I hope these storms aren't part of any weather system along your route! Safe travels and see you Saturday!
