    Hey guys...
Any recommendations for some type of sound-deadening material I can use on the floor of my 55 Ford Country Sedan wagon? (No carpeting in car. Just rubber matting.) I'm open to anything including non-car material used in roofing. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on it. I think it would help. Please advise. My brother is coming up from Florida at the end of June to ***ist in the installation and I would like to purchase something prior to that. Thanks.

Used the same as STIG. Works great. Never have had any odor from it ..4 years now..Just heat it up with a heat gun. Makes it more plyable

Not an arm and a leg but more expensive than the home improvement stuff. This is what I have in the roof of my car going on 5 years now.

One comment - works great on floors...but...I had/have problems using on inside of doors, quarter panels, etc. No matter how well you clean the adhesive gives up and it 'un-sticks' itself and falls down - messing with rolling windows down, etc. Used cheap stuff, High dollar stuff - all does the same. Used 3m spray adhesive- still no luck. My headliner dude warned me and said to never apply to under roof areas for the same reason. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Like others have suggested, I used the home cheapot stuff. In addition to cleaning the surface I heated it up with a heat gun, then smoothed it out with a welding glove while still applying heat. Even the ceiling is covered and none of it is peeling.

I don’t know if it’s any quieter because my exhaust is still unfinished and I haven’t reinstalled the drivers window lol. Been about two years now.

Thanks everyone. Good choices. I'm just doing the floor.

Any of these will be good for the floor. Get a roller and also the handle end of your favorite screwdriver so you can press the deadner into all the crevices of the floor.

I have several rolls of the Lowes stuff for the floor and roof. I still have the house insulation in the roof right now and the original tar based stuff in the doors. What is everyone recommending for a glue on the ceiling? I was thinking of glueing the stuff up, and then maybe putting sting length wise to keep it from falling down on the headliner.

If you use the Peel & Stick from Lowes you will not need any glue, just be sure you cut it to shape before you stick it on, because it won't come off without major effort. Also clean the roof surface well, I sanded mine and applied Rustoleum silver first.

Just peel and stick on a clean surface. Use a heat gun and a welding glove to really work the glue into the surface.
