I am being offered 352 fe that turns over for free, along with the 390 I am purchasing. Any thoughts on me grabbing the 352 and just seeing what plays out with it ? I will put it in the garage but I have limited space and my 390 is going on an engine stand and will be first priority.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

  2. The 352 has a lot of common parts with the 390. Can't go wrong for free. Have a safe trip up my way.

  4. The non-thinwall cast early versions ('58-61) can take a much larger overbore compared to the later ones...

Bob, thats not good advice. Free is not always a good thing. It only guarantees that when you get old you will have lots of junk and not all of it valuable. Been there, done that, and still dragging junk home

There was one really good 352" FE; the '60 360hp. The Starliner with the 3-speed overdrive, out in our country road, would run rings around any 348" Chubbys.

  8. Supposed to end up with the top end for an early 60s Police Interceptor for a 352.
But that’s probably just a cool name for regular iron heads and 4v intake

I give out bad advice for free.
Good advice comes with a fee.

  10. I had a bunch of 332, 352, 390 and 406 parts until a car accident and divorce ended all that in 1978. Some of it went for scrap, including some GT 390 exhaust manifolds.

    Need a po'boy engine stand.
An old tire on a furniture dolly works just fine for me.

How many engine mount holes does it have?

I got the 352, it turns over great. It was free. I also got another great condition 390 from a 62 or 63 Galaxie with chrome Edelbrock valve covers and my 390 Thunderbird special. A lot of weight in the back of this 250.

They can be made lighter weight , very easily . Lots of coolness and torque is easily available .

  22. I've always loved the sound of an fe. Nice torque curve too
