Ironically the spoke count is the same between the 16"vs 18" however not sure if the hub cap coincides with the clip spacing........on a separate note regarding regular commercial hub caps, I believe most were relatively flat with an oversized Ford script.

  3. Tires to rims tomorrow!
Can’t wait to mock this up again and see how it all looks with these beautiful Rocky Mountain Hubs! They remind me of the inner workings of a watch.
Time will tell what they look like!

The wheels are beautiful and I think they will be killer with the Rocky Mountain brakes. But, for some reason I envisioned them in the "champagne-pewter-olive-sorta colour". (Post 314)
Now I know why, you said it :D

I think the contrast with black tires would be even more striking!

Since no one else posted about the chrome or nickel plated Deuce grille shell. I vote YES!

Needs to retain the original radiator cap and flare as pictured.

  5. Thinking the hub will go that colour! Or the inside of the backing plates.

  6. Rears fitted! These are huge! Hope to keep proportions good. But they look awesome mounted on the 700/18s
Next up: build rear axle and make it a roller again!!!

I was getting a bit worried. Glad you got it!:D

As good as they look in black, I still think they would look better in the lighter colour.

  9. So this has been assembled and rolling before. So it’s no major milestone getting back up on wheels BUT- since disassembly I dropped the 32 heavy axle, swapped out the original center section for a quick change, modified the crossmember and changed to a model T rear spring.
    Some assembly required.
So back to get it rolling again. With different wheels and tires, hubs and drums. At this stage I’ll do brake lines and everything so I just finalize all pieces before painting and fitting for the last time.
I’m concerned about the rear T spring being too low. But that will all be looked at once we have the majority of car together to get a final weight.
A few hours today. - Fitted the 5.50 Firestones to the V860 front rims. Decided 5.50 over the 4.50/4.75 as the rears are so large.

It all looks so pretty, classic stuff. Except for the front tires. I personally can’t like a tire larger than a 5.00 on the front of a hot rod, especially a highboy.

  11. I was going to comment exactly the opposite. Nice to see someone choosing a slightly larger tire for the front, ESPECIALLY with the larger rear tire. Too many 'traditional' hotrods running around with more rubber rake than was traditional ;)

Yeah, that’s where I deviate. Smaller fronts, and lower in front too.

  13. You’re not wrong. And I’d be thinking the same. I have a set of 4.75s there I might pop on one side to see. But biggest thing is getting the body on and rolling it outside to have a proper look.
Easy fix to have the proper proportions in after

  14. Quick baby on for a visual. Front tires… seem too big still. But will decide once car it together.
I was super pumped on running a Dickie seat but bloody Quick change mods didn’t help this. So will see what’s possible.
    Lots more to come tomorrow!
Considering a set of bobbed rear fenders too. Just to switch it up once in a while.
    Those 700-18s fill them up!

    Hey @jordabennett
I really like that very cool, vintage "British Columbia" badge on the headlight bar!
And the rest of the recent modifications are looking very KICK ASS !
Just curious about those particular headlights, those are very distinct lenses and bezels and buckets, what exactly are they off of, or are those something that is from your part of the world ?
    Thanks from Dennis.

  16. Hey Dennis! Thanks. Headlights are Guides- with bezels. Lens no idea. Not sure if they will even work haha but they look cool!

I assume you've worked out fender clearance from the tires? The stance looks cool but there doesn't appear to be a lot of room for suspension travel.

Your headlights look like Guide 430's. Are they brass housing? We have a set for my brother's 29 roadster, but our bezels are pealing chrome. Wish we had a set as nice as yours! Those are pre WW2, only made a few years.

Sorry my mistake, I just went and looked at our lights and they are Auto-Lamp 430's. But they look exactly look yours and yours sure do brass to me.

  20. Mocked up the other hubs and had to roll the car outside for a visual.
This has got me wanting to see more! Lots more to come now. The model T spring I don’t think is cutting it. The frame is hard on the ‘36 radius rods.
I did a tap outline to see about potentially moving the corners and cat walk back 2”.
I’m tall. Like really tall. And I don’t want to be sitting on top of this car and not have any room. I can give some lines when the too goes on. You would barely notice but 2” extra in the cox pit would be huge! And my back would notice a great deal of pain relief.

  21. Rolled it back inside and did a much needed organize in the shop. Also I painted a wall pink
Going to start on the roadster tomorrow and knock more out- you can see here a little mock up of the English hood and sides. Going to be fun to make this look as if it was meant to be!

As you have already observed it appears as if a thinner or contoured rumble seat cushion might be in order if too tight....

  28. game on tomorrow. I’m working on my own car. Fancy that! did a few mock ups with fenders and ideas. Unsire exactly what will evolve for the fenders but I will need to unfortunately for rego here in Aus. I’m also genuinely thinking about cutting the rear quarters and cat walk area to push it back 2”- 2 1/2” back. I’m Tall. Like 6’7 tall, that’s tall. These cars are small. So pushing it back where I can with out drawing your eye to something is the goal, remember it’s on a 32 frame so it’s all a big bigger already. No it’s not a sport coupe body. Let’s see where the idea will go. IMG_6906.jpeg IMG_6902.jpeg IMG_6899.jpeg IMG_6896.jpeg IMG_6894.jpeg IMG_6893.jpeg IMG_6889.jpeg IMG_6884.jpeg IMG_6882.jpeg IMG_6904.jpeg
