"the desert express.1951 ford coe pick up"

Discussion in 'The Antiquated' started by iwanaflattie, Feb 21, 2012.

  1. I'm going to straighten the rear since the frame I found is a suburban and the coes is a c20..then I'm going to weld them together and bolt everything back after I clean and rebuild everything.

    Question for the knowledgeable.
I'm thinking of making it a dually but using the booster and brake lines...will that work with the bigger brakes?
Again,I don't plan to haul anything heavy.
    Thanks.

  2. check with the part store to see if the dually uses the same booster.

  3. booster should work, but the master cyl might be bigger bore for the dually as they use 3 in wide rear shoes. Also be aware, the Chevy dually pickup rear is wider than the cab/chassis rear by quite a bit.
Which leads to the question"how is that going to fit under the fenders?"

  4. I don't think you will have any issues with using the current booster and master cyl. Drum brakes especially use pressure more than volume of fluid.
