When I drank regularly years ago, the problem wasn't keeping them cool, it was keeping enough of them as I drank them too fast for them to get warm.

Today was a productive day! Trevor and Saul ( Soulman!) showed up around 9am. We kicked some tires and chewed some fat and then got busy working on my old car. While Saul started stripping the rust off the hood, Trevor and I worked on sorting out hardware to mount the hinges with. We also gathered bolts and washers to mount the grill. This is a 51/52 grill and it's kind of specific due to the way the grills differ. I have a set of 49/50 fenders but the grill I have for them is in no better shape....all this to say....I need to find a decent grill for a decent price. If anyone out there has a spare grill sitting around colecting dust and taking up real estate, give me a holler!

So we got the hood mounted and checked everything for fitment and everything is in the right place. We tested the latch, made sure there was nothing hitting where it wasn't supposed to. This all had to be looked at because we moved the radiator and core support forward a few inches for fan clearance. We also had to take into consideration the a/c condenser, which is now mounted with no clearance issues. I know there will be some that say, you only needed to do this, or you only had to do that....bottom line is I did what worked for how things came to be with this car. It's all good now and thanks to Trevor and Saul for helping things happen. Those two guys have been a HUGE help to me and I couldn't be as far along as I am now had it not been for them. 20250413_132150.jpg 20250413_132217.jpg 20250413_132322.jpg 20250413_145738.jpg

I'm thinking more along the lines of chrome paint. I've seen some chrome trim air brushed on a few and it looks nice.

First thing should be a citric acid bath to remove the rust and see whether you feel that you need to do more!

I had it in a citric acid bath and forgot it was in there. It was probably in there for several months. All the plating seems to have disappeared. Or converted, or something. It's ugly AF now. I dont think it will buff out!

  11. My experience with chrome paint that actually gives any illusion of being chrome at a glance is it doesn't hold up well

Robin & Dave (and anyone else reading this),

We'll be there in Clarence. Please look us up and say hello.

Dave saw Clarence last year but if you're not familiar with it, Robin, here's what it looks like:

Got inspired at the SK 500. Also scored some more grill parts. Put together a good looking setup. I need to do some blending but that's going to look acceptable. 20250507_223028.jpg 20250507_220917.jpg Resized_20250507_221002.jpeg

Thank you everyone, from Dr Dave, to Lone Star Mopar, and Guthriesmith., and everyone else.

I am working to get this thing on the road for Lead Aint Dead, I am hoping it doesn't coincide with our company get-together at work. Last year it was on the same day.

    atch,

I looked Clarence over and it is a very cool ride! Trevor and Merv and I spoke with your wife for a little while while waiting for you to come back but we missed you several times. Maybe next year we can park next to each other or something lol

That piece with the Chevrolet script on it can be made to look really nice I think. I have all of the BIG dents taken out, just have to figure out what grit of media I need to use once I get it all hammered out. I don't think 80 grit is the way to go on this one!

I'd like that Robin. It's my loss that we never got together this year. I'm registered for next year and barring catastrophe we'll meet up then. I will be looking for your sedan delivery.
