Hey guys first of all I wanna thank you for all your help. You guys are always great with the information. I have my 1932 Ford pick up. I got some Kelsey Hayes wire wheels for it from a buddy of mine. My front end for brakes is the Socal Buick style drums with internal disc brakes And my rear end is a big ford nine inch. my question is do I need some sort of adapter because obviously my drums will not fit into this smaller area of the wheel? Never ran wire wheels before so any help is appreciated
You're gonna need an adapter ring to support the wire wheel correctly, so you don't crack the hub. And you will also need a spacer that spaces them out enough to clear the buick drums.
Yes, as stated above you will need the bolt on adapter spacer with the support ring machined into it. However, be aware that it is about 1.5" thick or so and will push the wheels out towards the fender edge and it will not look right. It will also increase scrub radius on the front tires. I ran KH wires and Buick drums for years like this and went to steelies to correct the look and the SR issue.
Speedway sells the adapter /spacer which has the support ring all machined in one piece. If you have the 46" dropped axle the tires will sit pretty much centered in the fender.
