Hey guys, Looking at a car like a model A with a substantial drop from door bottom to running board, I could picture it built fenders on, as low as possible with them, and I can picture it way lower, channeled without fenders or running boards, but I can picture something in the middle. Anybody got photos of a model A or simile that they moved the fenders and running boards up and channeled for a lower fenders-on look? Been brainstorming at have access to a model A that has fenders. Yea that's cool! Something like that. Would be sedan though so don't know if it would be as elegant Member: Rochester Street Rods - Est. 1970 http://www.rochesterstreetrods.org CrossMembers Car Club - Hebrews 12:2 http://www.crossmemberscc.com
This is a bit more HAMB friendly. A 1932 Plymouth PB Coupe. Full fendered and channeled. Article Link: http://www.hotrod.com/articles/1932-plymouth-pb-coupe-2/
Chopped 3", channeled 4" and full fendered- lots of cutting and welding! Headlights are mounted in the stock holes on the fenders with the bar cut out
Awesome thanks for the responses guys!! If I go this rout I'll post a link to my build here Member: Rochester Street Rods - Est. 1970 http://www.rochesterstreetrods.org CrossMembers Car Club - Hebrews 12:2 http://www.crossmemberscc.com
George, did this build ever come to fruition? That deep channel and those wheel arches took my breath away...
I was around the blue Model A sedan in the middle of Georges photos above. George Jezek of Waco Tx built it in the 70's but it had different wheels on it when I was around it. It was a great looking and extremely well built Car. I remember it sitting a lot lower though.
This appears to have been a thing in Hawaii: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hawaiian-roadster-survivor.598005/
That blue model A is exactly what I am thinking of doing. I guess I would "section" the body side of the fender "bump" that is, the bead rolled rolled into the rear quarter that accentuates the meeting between the fender and body, up so it is saved. I really like the idea of fenders on, and little or no chop for what I am picturing so these all REALLY helped. I will report back hear either way... I have this next endeavor narrowed down to a few options Member: Rochester Street Rods - Est. 1970 http://www.rochesterstreetrods.org CrossMembers Car Club - Hebrews 12:2 http://www.crossmemberscc.com
This is crazy but I saw a car damn near exact to this one for sale somewhere. It was either eBay or Craigslist I can’t remember for the life of me but it was advertised as an old build “back in the day “.
My avatar is an old stalled project pic of my non-chopped '30 Model A coupe that has been lowered, frame is stepped 6" in the rear, channeled the width of the frame, rear fenders and mini tubs were raised an equal amount and the front fenders narrowed 3". It was too hard to enter and exit the car with the running boards, so I reverted to our motto, " we don't fix it, we eliminate it". A set of rocker panels were made to tie it together. Hope to prep and paint when it warms up in the weeks to come.. Always liked the look on the sedans as well. I see you are in Ontario. I have heard the law is being enforced requiring fenders and a requirement for plating the vehicle?
