Outdoor vendor set up is at 5 am on Saturday. Indoor vendor set up is noon to 5 pm on Friday and after 5 am on Saturday. There is a race on Friday night so the outdoor vendors can not get on the race track for set up until Saturday morning.

All loaded up and ready to roll out at 3:15am tomorrow.
Be sure to stop and buy some of our Model T, A, 32, 34 or 40 Ford stuff.

Mised the Hawkeye Downs swap Meet as a 4-hour drive just wasn't in the cards this spring, we'll see if the usual fall meet develops as in years past with respect to the new owner/management takeover. I did attend the annual Camp Creek (Waverly Ne.) tractor swap meet this a.m. & found a set of (5) 16" Ford rims with the small cap nubs (3) of which still had factory dealer wired tags, while damp storage & will require blasting, too good to p*** up at $5 each.

Dealer count was ok, buyer count was low. I saw some good old stuff, and bought a few things. Hope it continues.

I did not make it as the new date interfered with an event here.....

I would like to thank all of the vendors and buyers that came to the swap meet. I am shocked at how many vendors attended after the swap meets long absence from Hawkeye Downs. I was hoping that we would have at least half this many vendors for the swap meets return to HD so the amount we had was a total and pleasant surprise. Hawkeye Downs is happy with the turn out and although I have not heard anything from the AACA yet, I believe the swap meet was a success for them as well.
As for the comments I heard about the amount of booths selling non-car parts, this was a necessity to get the AACA to come back. The wives of the club members wanted these types of booths included and their club votes helped to bring the AACA back to run the swap meet. I look at it as a small compromise to get the swap meet back.

My Son and I went as Spectators. I can't remember the last time I didn't vend at a meet. I simply did not have enough to justify a spot, yet still wanted to support the event. I got chills of nostalgia when I entered the track and saw this:

I was able to get a couple of carbs and bring the paper bag out of retirement

I look forward to future meets..

I second that..... with Des Moines gone, vendors / garage / barn clean outs are looking for more Swap Meets.

While Marketplace has become popular, it's losing its shine as there are so many FLAKE BUYERS AND SELLERS / SCAMMERS it's starting to be a joke.

So called buyers ( they aren't ) want to come to your place to case it out only to return later when you aren't home to rip you off. Professionals.

Always meet in a Police Station Parking lot or Walmart..... never at your house !

Better yet..... at a swapmeet sellers and buyers deal face to face each other and you can fondle what ever part your heart and wallet desires.

The ACCA said the swap meet was a success for them but that they are getting older and did not want to take on a second swap meet this year. They have signed up to run the spring swap meet again in 2026.
